Greetings all. I have not purchased the expansion yet and am wondering whether or not I should. Do you recommend it?
I asked the same question in trade chat. People told me that BfA is "widely considered bad." And that it mimics some of the problems that WoD had. Is this true?
Thanks for your replies. Cheers all.
It's mediocre. I preferred WOD, but I thought that expect was underrated.
It's pretty bad. At least in WoD the classes hadn't been ruined.
It’s only as good as you are
It is a really good expansion. The world is beautiful, the dungeons are fun. The class design is really off, what i dont like, same goes for gearing.
Questing experience is amazing; i'm liking PvP too, i main a dk and looking for the next patch that will hit in dec 11.
I think you should give a chance to it. If you dont like, well, thats ok. But if you do, its a few bucks for 2 years of fun :)

id heavily wager that decission, if you are someone loggin in playing some heroic dungeons and do some worldquests, then its fine. if you are a mythic raider, then dont
It’s a troubled expansion to say the least.
But based off of what is to come in future patches, most of my fears have been alleviated.

It really depends on what you're looking for in a game. It's not nearly as bad as WoD since there is much more to do at level cap. There is also a lot more incentive to get out in the open world in this xpac. The mission table has been relegated to a real side activity. You don't feel too guilty about ignoring it. The storyline is compelling. The new mythic plus dungeon system keeps that content fresh. And the pace that Blizz is releasing new content is much better than in WoD.11/13/2018 03:14 AMPosted by CorpselordGreetings all. Think of it like a new dish at a restaurant. People can tell you whether or not they like it. But until take a taste yourself you can't be sure. I'd suggest putting a forkful of BfA in your mouth and decide for yourself.
It's only very VERY slightly better than WoD. So it's pretty bad right now. 8.1 and 8.1.5 look promising but we'll see if they're really listening to players.
This expansion has made me never want to play another expansion launch again. Ever. I'll wait for the inevitable better .1 or .2 patch in the future.

It's pretty accurately rated. It was good for what it had, but it didn't have much.
It's meh at best so far. There are some good points (Drustvar is amazing) and the art/design department truly did fantastic job.
The people who fix bugs... not so much with the good job. WoD didn't have this level of sheer misery with annoying bugs.

Anyone ever wonder WHERE Grumbles gets all his cookies from... and how?!
I'm onto you, Shortstack. You're 100% correct with the state of BFA with the problems you mention (I could add more, like how combat is slowed down to painful levels, pruning of classes feels bad, Azerite Gear is just dumb and offers no rewarding choices for some specs, hitting 116 and losing legendaries is the worst feeling in WoW I've experienced in a LONG TIME and more...) but I'm still onto you.
for me every expansion had a deal breaker that made me leave early. i am a casual, so take that for what it is.
lich king- nothing, played all the way through. was my first expansion. tried really hard to get top gear.
cataclysm - didnt play it at all. was tired of the gear grind on lich king and didnt play it
mop - hated the drunk panda jokes. i left within 1 month because it never ended
wod - this was supposed to be my back in, and got bored about halfway through because nothing new was happening.
legion - random legendaries made me quit. i loved it otherwise. i hated that RNG decided if you were good or not.
BFA - so far so good. i wish there was more toys/pets/mounts you could get from doing stuff in the game. i am ready for more content to drop. i hope it doesnt end up like WOD.
at this point in my life, i am so casual that i dont even do dungeons anymore. i play a lot, but all solo content.
i also only really try to hit the 340+ ilvl so i am better than the scaling...meaning i dont get trashed by random mobs in the world

Sort of a rocky start but there are tons of things to do.
Whether you find those things good or bad only u can decide.

I'm enjoying it as I've enjoyed all the expacs since I started playing in MoP.
If you played at max level in legion ask yourself, did you like argus? Emmissaries and WQs?
BFA is just the last patch of legion extrapolated into an expansion, but with most abilities on the GCD, which will be rolled back a bit soon due to player feedback, and more class pruning, which will never be rolled back despite class feedback.
If the 2nd raid isn't pretty damn good it will be worse than WOD.

It has it's down points, but the down points are different than WoD's lack of content.
Overall it has not been bad, it just seems worse coming in the shadow of legion.
Dungeons and world are really well done. The systems need a bit of work. Uldir is also probably one of the better raids to appear in the launch patch.
WQ get a bit old, and islands and warfronts aren't great. They have been working on the islands though. They keep adding things that keeping making them just a bit more interesting. They are getting there.
I have played frost or fire mage, plus prot paladin so far this expac. None of those classes are in bad shape so I cannot speak for class design. I am not even sure if fire had anything added to the gcd.

What drugs are you taking? I want some.
WoD neutered all of the damn classes with the first round of pruning. They were left as dried husks of their former selves.
Holy crap, the revisionist history here is mind-blowing.
I would say, the story line is fun, the raid is fun, and if you're planning on PvPing, the Horde is winning most of the matches right now (from what I've experienced).
However, in my opinion, azerite gear is really not fun. Grinding out levels for your neck piece is not fun and I'd rather just farm for an upgrade then feel like I HAVE to log in every day or fall behind. And let's not forget the pieces that drop that could have been an upgrade, but because of the garbage traits it has it's not worth equipping.
So whether you start playing again OP, really depends on what aspects of the game are important to you.
