So I just returned to WoW from being gone for like a year. I decided to start fresh on a new server with a new Warrior. I saw that most of the armour such as Copper, Bronze, Green Iron, etc. have gone from being plate armour to mail armour. So far I have 146 Blacksmith and look at higher lvl armour. They are made useless since most quests reward you with better armour stats (including strength and stamina) than recipes you can make yourself. What’s the point of blacksmith if the gear is useless compared to quest reward gear?
Nobody knows.
If i remember correctly you can’t use plate till 40 so they are more than likely showing as mail till you reach that level so you can craft gear you can use. Check again when you gain the ability to use plate and see if it changes.
Plate wearing classes can wear plate from the start now. However, the pre-40 gear from Blacksmithing was mail so I imagine they changed the stats to suit mail wearers for transmog purposes. They just never bothered to put any plate armor at the pre-40 level except for some initial pieces.
The point of Blacksmith is that you can make a couple of raid equivalent pieces at max level. There are also the Hoofplates and Stirrups. As you are leveling you can use the sharpening stones early on. I would wager that if you had Blacksmithing up as high as you can get it that the gear you make can be better than the quest gear. However, leveling in retail is so quick at the early levels that it is really easy to outpace the profession. If you use heirlooms it is even worse as they are equivalent to a blue piece.
I can’t believe all the mats needed to craft armor in BFA 250 sanguicell and 250 breath of bownsamdi , just doesn’t make sense , jewelcrafting, inscription , are as bad if not worst so if professions for you are a great part of playing this game then u have no choice than to quit, that’s how i feel and will do when my token expire
Or you can play Classic.
