<BFA> Art of War questions

Was wonder how much if any certain stats and talents affect the rate of AoW procs for ret. Tool tip makes it sound like auto attacks have a % chance to proc it?
If so does stacking haste for faster AA swings = more potential procs?
The talent Zeal with its AA haste, does that too add to better chances of procing AoW?
Then ofc theres the talent doubling the odds of AoW procing.
Or is AoW more of a PPM x and nothing we do will reliably increase it outside of its specific talent.
Anyone crunched the numbers on this or know of a source that has? Ive read different sources that says it goes both ways.

Thanks!

We don’t know the exact numbers for sure, Wowhead suggests that the proc rate without Blade of Wrath is 4+haste procs per minute. Who knows how accurate that is. My personal feeling as a Ret main has always been that the proc rate is about 33% with Blade of Wrath (that was the proc rate with the old Legion Blade of Wrath talent), half that without.

But yes, auto attacks have a % chance to proc it. Yes, stacking haste gives you more procs. Yes, Zeal gives you more proc chances as well. So the ultimate build for Art of War procs would be to spec into Zeal and Blade of Wrath, but that rarely happens in PvE.

Pretty sure it’s as simple as more haste = more attacks = more proc chances. This is one of the reasons why Rets stack haste in every aspect of the game right now.

Hope it helps!

It actually does not, early in the beta people were discovering the interaction of Zeal+BoW was performing higher in both ST and AoE, so it was fixed so that Zeal is its own proc and doesn’t proc BoW.

Thats a bunmer about zeal. Sounds like ill be keeping BoW at least outside of any pve push.
Haste stacking still work for more AoW procs it sounds like? I know mastery is a thing for stupid high burst but ill be playing more of a support role in wpvp and bg with friends.
Id rather get the most from AoW to pump selfless healer stacks xD

Art of war is a 2 or 2.5 ppm and blade of wrath is 4 or 4.5 ppm.

Hammer of wrath is the most used talent because its the most flexible in wpvp and bgs, the range it gives you is really good. In arenas hammer of wrath is still really good if your team already brings a slow other than you. If it doesnt then blade of wrath gains value to increase uptime on hand of hindrance with law and order pvp talent

I know HoW is by far more popular. Im almost guranteed to be playing along side a hunter, ill leave the ranged dps to them.
If im using HoW with wings as ranged dmg on kiters then i feel like its a sore use of wings. Solo play and pug bgs however i can see the appeal.
Ive been playing HoW past cpl nights not particularly a fan ill be going back to blade i think. Appreciate the input.

I… doubt that’s true

The nerf was reverted Zeal does increase Art of War proc chance. Also Divine Toll now triggers Zeal.
