I do apologize if this thread comes off as a bit angry, harsh, and/or destructive; and maybe I am a bit arrogant and/or look like I have a tinfoil hat on, but as of now I am angrier than a raging bull. So before I receive my permaban from the Blizzard moderators, allow me to at least explain why this upcoming expansion already looks like a failure on paper.
First: The expansion releases on August 14th. That's 4 months away. They gave themselves 'til September 21st to have everything ready. But now they're saying "We are confident that by the time college kids are moving into their dorms for the Fall 2018 semester and by the time the Little League World Series will be heading to Williamsport for the championship on ESPN; we will have this expansion off the ground and ready for the masses to play."
Well, maybe I am missing something, but BfA hasn't had a proper Beta version test yet, let alone some time on the PTR to work out bugs. In fact, I'm fairly certain they are just now wrapping up Alpha testing. So you're trying to tell me a game which just wrapped up Alpha testing will have a proper Beta test, have any outstanding bugs that was happening in Legion fixed, tested on the PTR AND have the pre-expansion launch events all done by a majority of the playerbase by August 14th? That sounds like a very optimistic goal, so optimistic in fact that I'm sure they are overlooking something.
Second on my rant list: BfA's Forced PvP. When Blizzard yesterday released their video announcing the all-too-early expansion release date of August 14th, there was one line in there from good ol' boy king Anduin Wrynn: "Only one of us wanted this war."
And I agree with Anduin. I didn't ask for this war. In fact, this entire expansion screams to me that Blizzard is desperate to try and shut up the folks that are saying "The faction war is dead" by releasing this expansion and saying "Hey, looks like the faction war is alive and well, whose laughing now?"
Yes, Blizzard, the faction war is not dead; but only because you insist on beating on a dead horse. And now you're force-feeding PvP down my throat. Warfronts? That's basically Blizzard trying to take RIFT's failed "Conquest" PvP and trying to make it more successful with more PvP. Island Expeditions? Essentially PvP Scenarios that is marketed to us as an improvement over dungeons. And don't get me started on the upcoming Battle for Undercity. 25v25 scenario included in the pre-launch events? Am I the only one who sees players breaking keyboards, gaming mice, and other tech as a result of not "winning" the Battle for the Undercity? Am I the only one who sees the forums becoming a dumpster fire cos they got tilted as a result of the Battle for the Undercity?
**********************************
TL;DR I'm afraid this expansion already on paper looks like a dumpster fire cos this expansion is force-feeding PvP down player's throats, including for those who don't play PvP cos they would get their behinds handed to them by trolls looking to antagonize players and exert their false sense of superiority over other human beings. Plus, when you consider the all-too-early expansion date, this expansion looks even more laughable.
That is all. I yield. I will now take my permaban.

I have yet to see anything saying pvp will be forced?
PvP is player vs player. It is not player vs mobs dressed as the other faction, nor is it ‘greiving’ when it does involve players. This expansion will not have pvp if you dont want to do it, i think war mode or whatever its called is proof of that.
I marvel at those who make up their own definitions.
What "forced pvp"?
What "forced pvp"?
There is no forced PvP in BfA. Warfronts are PvE.
The story is about the Alliance vs Horde, but that does not mean forcing players to fight other players.
They are even going out of their way to make the War Mode toggle, to completely disable pvp across all realms, unless you want to opt in.

what is this "bfa is a pvp expansion" meme
faction conflict =/= pvp
you'll literally just be fighting the same mobs you do every expansion except this time they look like the other faction
calm the frick down

If anything, they're making even more sure of our ability to not be put in these situations.
Even players who are currently on PvP realms will be able to turn off their flags and play on PvE shards any time they wish to.
People may have taken the title of the expansion far too literally.

lol Illumona still dumb as always your not forced to pvp at all. man people who think its forced pvp really need to go back to school and learn what forced means
warfronts and island adventures will have a PvP mode (not entirely sure about Warfronts actually, but i can see it getting a PvP mode later if it doesn't already get one at the start) but they are predominantly PvE activities (with the islands having like 3 PvE difficulties, Normal/Heroic/Mythic).
the only thing remotely "forced PvP" about this is that the majority of the NPCs we'll be fighting for the story of the first half of the expansion will be flying the opposite faction's colors.

What "forced pvp"?
The pvp that forces them gets to them cause it interferes with being able to do the easy peasy /faceroll. They are alergic to anything that requires 'effort'.

What "forced pvp"?
I see that you don't understand what I mean by "Forced PvP", so let me try again.
Warfronts: Essentially 20v20 PvP that was FITTINGLY copied from RIFT's "Conquest" mode, which was removed from RIFT due to lack of popularity.
Island Expeditions: Essentially Mists of Pandaria Scenarios if those Scenarios were 3v3 PvP.
Battle for Undercity: Essentially 25v25 pre-launch Scenario that will cause several tilted players to destroy their gaming equipment cos they "lost the battle" as well as because they weren't able to exert their superiority over other human beings.
Um, if I recall Warfronts are gonna be like pve scenarios...like a mini raid. Same for the Battle of the Undercity.04/06/2018 09:52 AMPosted by IllumonaWarfronts: Essentially 20v20 PvP
Warfronts are PvE entirely, unless you flag yourself for PvP in the world content parts. Island assaults, if I understand correctly, have both PvE and PvP modes. Where's the forced PvP again?
Didnt they just have a Q and A where they had to reiterate warfronts were pve? Like yesterday? Man its dumb questions like these that burn time in an interview because people couldnt be bothered to pay attention the first time....
As far as I've seen, none of those things are actually PvP based. Like, at all.

New expansions are never put on the PTR. They go from Alpha to Beta then to Release. Alpha is already much closer to a Beta as far as playability goes and we have 4 more months.
Regarding PvP, I am with Crepe here. As far as I can tell there is no forced PvP this expansion and the PvP toggle will ensure those who want to participate can, and those who don't like it, don't.
BfA is not a PvP expansion, this has been said multiple times.
In fact none of the examples you provide of "forced" PvP are actually PvP-focused. Island Expeditions are PvE with a purely optional PvP "difficulty setting". The Battle for Undercity and the Burning of Teldrassil are scenarios similar in vein to the Legion Intro Scenario; that is to say they are 100% PvE.
The story is focused on the faction war, but the content is still PvE, the "E" is just the opposing faction this time.

Someone get him a participation trophy!!!

Not to mention, they basically said that they're treating the cutoff for Alpha and Beta differently for BfA than they have in the past. It sounds like Beta is primarily for finalizing details now, and the actual content will be done by the time Beta comes around.
This whole thread could have been avoided if the OP had actually read anything about the expansion before complaining about it...
