Beyond Naxxramas

Can someone explain what this exactly means? Because I don’t think it means what people think it does.

only thing will happen is TBC no matter what we try

Chris Metzen chased away all the brilliant talented creative professionals that made Warcraft awesome by being a tyrant and there isn’t anyone left in the company that’s capable of coming up with new ideas that don’t suck. I’d prefer they didn’t try. every time I see what new thing they’ve done with retail I’m embarrassed for hack developers and anyone who still thinks it’s a fun way to spend their time. it’s turned into a childrens’ “let’s play make believe and dress up.”

Catch-up gear which usually comes with new content invalidates the journey which is the point of classic. That’s one of the factors that make retail bad. Add all the new content you want but don’t invalidate the journey. No catch-up mechanics.

Found George Lucas.

Yeah I keep hearing this phrase and I can’t for the life of me figure out what it means since no one articulates it.

But what I do know, is that the people who are upset with wow are never actually going to be satisfied with any of the things that happen going forward, particularly since a lot of the things people complain about are things that people clamored for and it’s only years later after the fact that they complain about them.

So I say they should just legacy server all of the pre-existing expansions so that people can enjoy each era as it was when it launched instead of trying to satisfy the players who can’t accept that the game moved on after december 2006.

They’ll just move on to rehost burning crusade.

The next big raid was going to be Karazhan, so…

Imagine a 40-man sized Maiden of Virtue…

Or a 40-man sized Moroes.

“Epic” doesn’t even begin to describe it.

Well there is an issue of someone having to pay to create that content, plus it is very possible a lot of people don’t want content added as well since you never know what you will get and you can’t just turn back the clock if they do add it.

So overall I vote no.

There doesn’t need to be any catch-up gear. If you want to raid 40-man Kara you better be almost fully decked in tier 3.

…At least that’s what I think.

See this is part of the problem; people want new content and new gear but no one wants it to change the meta or invalidate pre-existing gear.

So what is the point in either pushing out content (for the developer) or going through the content (for the players?).

No Changes have already lost.
Blizz continues to make subtle changes to the game and will probably add more content to retain subs. They can hold their breath and stamp their feet untill their pink hair turns blue but it wont change reality.

Theres a difference between teaking code and designing whole new quest chains and dungeons.

Like, right now Classic effectively costs nothing to keep going; 100 subs are probably enough to cover the cost of maintaining the servers and they don’t need more then a skeleton crew to handle anything else.

But as soon as you start working on new content, you need to hire code monkeys, writers, VAs, animators and a whole lot of other people that are going to want to be paid to work on what is ultimately an antiquated version of the game… and has a good chance of having a chunk of the player base tell them to shove it for defying the (utterly nebulous) “spirit of classic.”

Or they can launch the expansions as seperate servers and call it a day.

That’s a fair concern and I 100% agree with you. IF they were to add content after Naxx I would hope there were no catch up mechanics to go with it. They could find another way of making new gear desirable without just making it more powerful.

This is a conversation I would love to have. Certainly there are ways to make new content’s gear desirable without just making it more powerful. Perhaps they could use elemental resistances and each new tier has an elemental theme or themes associated with it and the new gear would be “stronger” than previous gear in the sense that it would give you the resist levels needed to conquer that tier.

This of course has its own challenges, but it’s a plausible way to make new gear attractive without just making the stats higher.

They already stated there isn’t going to be new classic content - they will do BC instead.

They say alot of things, look at what they are doing though.

Didn’t they also say they wouldn’t release Classic servers? Didn’t they say we thought we did but we didn’t? And look where we are now.

go ahead - hold your breathe.

I like had they said no more titanforging on the next gear tier. OmG did you see any of it. Its like 5 different RNG per item. So glad Classic is here.

I agree please dont touch classic.

I don’t want to touch anything new being developed if Ion or Holinka are involved.
