Better way forward

A consistent theme is that of fear of how a Classic+ would be balanced.

Seeing as how dev resources are split thin between all the different versions of WoW - something that would enable the dev team would be to institute something rather unique I remember from DAoC some 20+ years ago - their TL program.

Essentially a volunteer class ambassador.

Now this person could be vetted by whatever means blizz sees necessary, and replaced if unactive/unhelpful (some folks already are known in community as very knowledgeable of a particular class and game balance and would surely volunteer).

As Blizz has a spotty history for PvP class balance in particular and slim resources at times, having these ambassadors would give them succinct and pre-vetted feedback and suggestions.

Benefits for blizz : less time/resources invested for improved customer satisfaction.

Benefits for players : someone that speaks on your behalf to improve QoL for your favorite classes.

Benefit for the ambassador : same as player, and some creative experience to put on a resume - maybe a job if you’re exceptional? Just have to survive your playerbase

It seems to me it was a successful program in a past case study and even many of the folks too young to remember DAoC have likely heard how good it’s PvP was - I believe this may have played a role in that.

If community is too rough on the poor volunteer trying to help them, scrap it and lose hardly anything.

They’ve done this before.

It didn’t end well.

I nominate Leatherteeth

just give us arenas and rbgs. Game feels dead outside of raids. Nothing to do but do it again on an alt or read forums. Bg’s would have been something to do if they didn’t mess the honor system up and make sod the season of high warlords handicapping everyone to max. I sometimes wonder if blizz realized pvp made their game as big as it got and the lack of giving us the best aspects of the game is a fundamental error. guarantee that’s why your numbers always fall off a month into every phase.

Yep.

The classic wow devs are extremely foolish for how they have handled pvp in SoD.

Raiding only gets people to play once a week.

Good pvp is what causes people to actually no life the game lol

i don’t care how broken they think pvp is. We proly don’t care and would rather have some content to do the other 5 or 6 days a week besides farming boar lungs and badlands whelps. At least make sure every real box I open is full of winterfall firewaters or something and not a bunch of flowers. I can see the double moonkin 2s now tho. Im calling it now. top 2s moonkin hunter.

We had that once, I was one of them for mages. We were all very passionate, made a lot of posts, shared perspectives respectfully, and tried to engage the developers. They never posted, our feedback was never incorporated, and we had no real influence. Then these fancy new forums came along and we were all purged without a comment from them.

Yea, we need a ladder system or rating of anykind. Arenas would be amazing.

I would even feel content with a repeatable or daily pvp quest, rework “For Great Honor” to give us Tarnished Reals or anything to incentivize pvp battlegrounds after honor capping.

Didn’t realize that. Well, then it wasn’t a failure of the system just a failure to make good use of it. Though i see how they could very well do the same again. Wasted opportunity.

Was that the old green colored posters with a special forum title?

Nope, the green posters were recognized as being particularly engaging and helpful on forums. Those of us on the feedback forum were more technical, recognized privately for the guides we’ve made, theorycraft we’ve done, bugs we’ve explained, or something like that. I really don’t mind talking about this now, we didn’t sign NDAs, it was intended to be private at the time and I respected it then, but it’s been a long time now.

I was plucked because I threw 50,000 frostbolts to show the spell coefficient wasn’t correct, made MMO-Champion’s frost mage guide in MoP, did some calculus about DPET which showed frost was actually viable and the simcraft at the time was actually wrong about fire (b/c I was really annoyed at how people perceived what was best, there can be biases in meta gaming that perpetuate bad perceptions of viability sometimes). Those were the glory days, co-founded Altered Time with some EU mages and launched the widest and most productive social movement for the mage class.

Now I’m just waxing nostalgic, sorry, the pre-discord days were a lot more fun.

I agree with the point here, some of us are so passionate in the community that we offer quality work of all kinds, creatively and technically, for free. Some players even have a natural sense for more balanced-yet-interesting changes to the game that exceed the developers themselves. Because nowhere else on the market has created a simple-mechanic MMO like this, we’re stuck here, stewing in our ideas.

Crazy how you and so many others think we are getting some “classic plus” in the future when we are currently playing classic plus lol. So naive! But whatever keeps people subbed then who cares right ? :stuck_out_tongue: Hope you have a great day Vairryn :people_hugging:
