Eliminate multiple sources of gearing confusing new + returning players
Roll Weekly Conquest Quests, Trophies of Strife, and Crafting into one system
Better balance rewards across all game modes and have all forms of PvP be valid
Eliminate frustration of coming up short on conquest for a piece
Give players a choice of modes they want rather than grind X weekly mode.
Try to match current pacing of Conquest gearing.
Keep Sparks of Creation OUT of PvP.
The System:
A weekly progress bar requiring 20 “PvP Progression Tokens”
Earn 20 PvP Progression Tokens from:
RBG Win: 5 tokens
Rated Blitz Win in TWW: 4 Tokens
2v2 Win: 2 Tokens
3v3 Win: 3 Tokens
Skirmish Win: 1 Token
War Mode WPvP Quest [Rhuzast, etc]: 1 Token
Random Epic BG Win: 2 Tokens
Random BG Win: 1 Token
RBG LOSS: 2 Tokens
RATED Blitz LOSS: 2 Tokens.
RSS Round Win: 1 Token
Examples of Weekly Prog
-10x 2’s wins
-7x 3’s wins
-20 RSS Round wins
-5x Blitz Wins [p. much a daily for Monday-Friday].
-Any Combination of the above.
Rewards for completing the weekly bar:
-Greater Trophy of Conquest
-Lesser Trophy of Conquest
Gear Economy:
Greater Trophy of Conquest can Purchase: Weapon, Helm, Chest, Legs, ANYTHING.
This allows Weapon+4p by week 3, or 4p minus weapon week 2. Make your choice.
Alts and Catchup System Purpose:
-Still allow sending gear to alts
-Continue to let catchup/alts have an easier time than first weekly completion on main.
Alts and Catchup Considerations:
Only require TEN [10] tokens of participation per reward for second completion per WEEK per ACCOUNT [1st completion on your main makes prior completions on ANY character 1/2 the work via 10 tokens].
Trophies are ACCOUNT BOUND, sendable to alts but can only be spent 1x per WEEK of season going on [like the strife seasonal cap].
Cap on subsequent 10 tokens completion = Weeks of current season.
Crafting:
Use these trophies with materials for embellishments.
Current system pretty sicko aside from vault (going away soon), limited conquest weekly (buffed this season and next expansion) and sparks being split between pve and pvp.
And blizz has purposely added the daily bonus so that people don’t needlessly waste time trying to do it all in a session.
Some do and that’s fine for them. For others - like me and many many people - it’s nice when you play max 2ish hours to get rewarded well for that time.
Blitz alone is 100 cq daily win. Add in the 2 quests, and your Gucci just winning 1/day.
And skirms are 5 after first win which is 25.
First win of something, and can fully cap with no issue.
So dumb that it’s better to just vendor old crafted crap and craft new…
The point is you don’t have to do them subsequently which is a much better respect of time.
If you want to spam something all day that’s fine, but thankfully for players like me who don’t play a huge ton, the daily bonus makes up for it and my time is better respected than needing to spam queue to cap.
I’ve had to explain the pvp crafting system to 5 players this season already who have no idea on earth how the Sparks of Creation works
“Investing” in a PvP toon you mean by increasing the mountain alts/returning/new players have to climb to not get curbstomped by gear discrepancy means much fewer players play the game.
Your “investment” should solely be your rating. Gear progression solely exists because modern WoW players cannot fathom playing a mode to enjoy themselves without being stomped by a pre made or people in 20-30% better gear.
I used to have other people’s mindsets that things are fine but unlike other players I’ve
-Played the game off and on for 20 years
-Read up on the huge wowhead post about embellishments
-Cross-examine forum posts each season about sources of Sparks of Creation
-Have patience to view the rotating set stats on Tier and pipette and eye drop the perfect slotting of gear and how to spend every last one of my conquest points.
Cause atm, confused players getting frustrated why they can’t climb in RSS and can’t understand why players are 20% stronger than they are.
And then they just quit.
And ya’ll make fun of them, then whine about PvP being dead.
Again:
-I’ve had to explain the best way to spend strife,
-How to convert tier
-Where to Earn Sparks of creation
-How to craft
to 5 friends already.
You all have a very egocentric view that every PvP’er is running over forums and wowhead keeping tabs on future datamining and 4-5 sources of gearing.
Forums are filled with sweaty nerds with thousands of posts and want people to suffer. This post is pointless because they refuse to accept that a 20 year old game needs radical changes to recover from decline. They just want to have PVP to be the same handful of R1 losers who have played WoW on a loop for 20 years. No one new is ever going to touch arenas because the grind is awful and the community is worse.
What grnd? Op himself is an example that by winning one skirmish bf rss a day you can easily cap. What grind? Crafting reagents relevant to pvp are literally handed to you on your first win of the season (two trophies)
The sparks are also handed to you by doing a weekly quest that makes you pvp.
Whats so grindy about the current pvp gearing process
For me, the biggest issue was the vault (thank god its being removed in TWW). I always feel obliged to 3 chest it each week to stay optimal and maximize chances of getting an upgrade or get gem sockets quicker. Unfortunately, I also like playing multiple toons, and so it usually comes down to me having to choose between what i’d prefer to do (2s, 3s, RSS) or doing what “I should” to cap 5000 honor points most efficiently (dailies, blitz, spark quest etc).
If i choose to do what I prefer, I’m likely not going to have enough time to 3 chest each of my toons by the following Tuesday. Not the end of the world, but I think you should be able to efficiently progress your character each week in whatever pvp format you most prefer. Right now, there’s a most efficient path to progress/cap your toon each week…and that often requires you to do things you may not want to.
New players with no gear after 3 weeks into the season will probably quit after their first day because it is an awful grind to catch up. Conquest gains are a joke ESPECIALLY if you are fresh and getting dunked on by full geared no lifers. You just don’t see it because you’re a masochist who has played every season since BFA. The rest of the forum creatures have played even longer than that.
It takes more time to gear a new character for arena than the amount of dev time Blizzard spends on PVP. Since they have totally stopped doing ANYTHING for PVP, I think we’re entitled to being given a full set of conquest gear at the start of seasons so we can play this side-quest game mode freely. Let me swap my stats and screw around and experiment. Let me jump on random specs and see how they feel. But, again, this suggestion will be met with whining and crying about how “BuT It’S aN RpG!1!!” as if anyone cares about this dated concept in the modern era.
This game is attracting zero new attention and Blizzard knows that their playerbase is the equivalent of drug addicts. They’ll just keep cutting the drug with more and more filler because they know you’re going to accept it. This game is literally chocked full of time wasting garbage and EVERYONE knows it. But hey, that’s what the addicts want so that’s what they’ll get.
Eventually the game will just be forum creatures and streamers. At least the streamers are getting paid to play it so I can understand why they put up with it. But the forum creatures? I can’t even imagine what your lives are like outside of this game.
