Better PvP Rewards

Maybe part of the problem then

Ah but even then you could usually catch them in it because one day the ninja rogue disappeared and another max level rogue with similar gear showed up… You’d know …

What a different game that was… Gear wasn’t churned out so you were happy to get one item a week if you were lucky lol…

If you ninja’d stuff with ml you just wouldn’t have as easy a time hosting runs it’s not that deep

Ah but it was more than ninja though… Like if you were a dick to the tank all of a sudden you weren’t getting invites to the group. Ganked and camped some lowbie? Watch the whole other faction camp ya for a while…

Server communities were great (maybe not all were like that but mine was)

larp

Well, the tank bit is still true to this day

I guess… But like the server only had so many good tanks. Now people just go to the lfg and mess over some other persons run in m+…

Sounds like you have an issue with terrible garbage solo shuffle bracket design rather than healing itself. If people never did these things and always played clean defense and always try to incorporate your kit into their offense gos would you have more fun healing?

Same thing today, actually, lmao

No because I have fun being a dps even with the 30 min ques. With healers having insta pops its still not worth it to me, and this is coming from an ex healer main. It’s less about my teammates not pressing their buttons, and more about healers mmr being awful and additionally having little to no sway on game outcome. Making a play then your warrior leaps behind the pillar and gets 100-0 by a destro lock, and types “heals!?” In chat shortly after… (in a match that shoulve been your 3-3)

Id rather be the warrior.

To cherry pick here at the peak of wow’s pvp popularity in MOP they gave the elite sets away in S13 for literally free. you had to get 25k conquest in the season and the vendor would allow you to buy the pieces. No reduction in participation that season.

This argument is also highly disingenuous as if people aren’t willing to play with “lowered and easier rewards” then they’re definitely not going to play with harder rewards. Adding actual things to chase or incentivizing people to bother with frankly the more childish and dramatic side of the comm is a hard sale in its current iteration.

I personally feel the only 2 options to really save PvP is a complete overhaul of the mode with way more incentives than just “elite set + tabard + illusion”, Potentially deleting it from retail and placing it as a tourney realm that’s F2P or doesn’t require the newest xpac so people actually are willing to try it while also allowing the devs to mess around with stuff and make the gameplay feel way more engaging than it currently does

Second thought is to add back old elite sets + illusions and integrating how to earn them via rating to keep people wanting to go on the treadmill of rating + promote healthy bracket pop. 2200 = old elite set token that u can buy 1 of per season 2000 = token to buy 1 illusion from an old season.

To end it very bluntly the failure of PvP falls solely on both the community and the devs. Devs for not caring enough to actually attempt to fix this side of the game and the players for being dramatic little gremlins who drown in hypocrisy.

Yes, but illusion and tabard both required 2.2 and 2.4 rsting respectfully.

The point I was addressing is they had a very low reward structure for that season and didn’t see any sort of dropoff with that. Trying to attribute lower rewards to the actual issues plaguing pvp is disingenuous.
If we’re going to talk about the issues with PvP lets talk about the real problems and not the made up ones.

Mop was also the pinnacle of pvp so the comparison is almost incomparable

Except the rewards that mattered did require a bit of rating, but something you’re also forgetting is MoP had much more dev communication for pvp and had things like pvp specific gear (set bonuses and the like)

To put it simply PvP has been on a steady decrease over the years regardless due to a multitude of actual issues and not just because “muh rewards lower”.
Lock of engaging gameplay
Lack of ability for people to learn things in an effecient / non tilting manner
PvP comm being pretty dramatic / toxic
Lack of avenues to network / make friends
Terrible MMR based climbing systems
Terrible balancing

As someone who’s on their 2nd season ever of actually pushing in PvP I’m already tired and will probably quit after I finish my last couple alts elite sets.

With a healthier pvp population the rewards made sense and there were a good amount of people queuing up to get said rewards. Today we don’t really have that luxury. Dev comms I agree have been awful and I wish that’d change soon as I see this mode crumbling in another xpac or 2 max. Tier bonuses I feel is a non issue unless you mean ones specific to pvp like back in the day, but in that case i raise the question what exactly would they change about said bonuses compared to pve?

This is a narrative that people need to do away with. It’s insane the amount of healers who post here as if their gameplay is always perfect and it’s just the ‘vile, incompetent DPS cretins’ who ruin their lobbies.

The biggest downfall to healing Blitz for healers is you only have 1 chance at being the best player in the lobby, and the DPS have 3. Also healer disparity is probably more heavily felt in random combat than DPS disparity since there’s always 2 DPS.

That aside, yeah give ground mounts for Legend/Strategist/2v2 2400 + ??. Also give 2v2 an R1 back, who cares if it’s the same 6 players who will get it every season, they’re clearly very good.

Greatly said. The AFK has pretty much started and everyone will fully afk the week everyone gets gear. Great MMR system.

yeah, because the inherit design of the mode is specifically catered for dps to have the most fun at the expense of healers. Think carefully of how solo shuffle matches are played out and the added wincon of autowinning by just making it to a certain damp%

Essentially the whole point of my post.
