Better Layout Editing

I’ve run into an issue where I picked the wrong room type attached to the entrance and built the rest of the house before realizing it. Now I can’t change that room without deleting the entire rest of the house. It would be really helpful to either have a way to save a room to paste it later (so i could delete the house and repaste all the rooms i like), or just allow us to change the room type of placed rooms.

My suggestions have been.

1 - allow us to move the entrance room to any attachment point.

2 - put a series of attachment points off to the side of the UI that rooms at be temporarily “hung on” while moving other things around.

That combination would allow us to do almost anything in terms of changing what’s already there without blowing up the rest of the house.

(Sorry to those who’ve seen me post this response several times, but given how the editor UI works, I think this is the best way to accommodate more flexibility.)

Don’t hate me but I think that feature would be too advanced and not in the spirit of housing. Rebuilding a house should not be a huge task, it should be a fun task – something that we do often or at least now and then. Now, I get that the bay window is massively labor intensive and maybe someday we’ll get some addons with overlays but I think it should be simple and clean and stress free.

A little off topic but I’ve seen players ask for functions that you’d find in AutoCAD and I’m wary of it getting too complicated and advanced or have some learning curve that is like climbing a small mountain.
