I’m trying to reign in my altoholic tendencies by focusing a one main and an alt. I’ve been playing around with a bunch of classes, and it’s time to buckle down and choose. I think I’ve decided on a priest main and either a warlock or druid for an alt. I’m thinking I’ll go Alliance PVP since I’ve been Horde previously. New to classic so I’m wondering which would be best to pair with a priest healer main.
I’ve been dancing around with a priest and warlock alt.
The main downside, especially from an altoholic, is that they play VERY similar on the way to 60: dots and wanding. Warlocks really don’t take off with drain tanking until 40+ and even then wand dps is pretty high.
It makes the leveling experience really dry between them. Sure, healing is completely different but you don’t do that very often on the way to 60. I guess it depends how you play but it’s a lot of doting and wands in between.
If you go tailoring you could make your lock gear. Lock also gets a free mount.
Both are great solo levelers, so you can quickly burn through your rested exp. make sure you do so every 7-10 days.
I’d say play both to lvl 10 and see which sparks more joy for you.
If you are only going to heal on your priest, the lock would be a nice change of pace with its DPS, and is excellent in PVP.
As for the druid, you would have a lot of options (even if there is a stigma against them in pve). However bear druids are doing well, and more guilds are breaking the meta and deciding to bring bear tanks also
What are your professions on Priest? If you will be rolling tailoring, maybe you should consider warlock, since you’ll be able to upgrade gear quite easy.
Would you want to tank, dps or heal on a druid? If heal, you might want to skip it, just because (I assume) you will heal on the priest.
I prefer lock leveling for the mount and I’m not a fan of melee or tanking. But, I think druid is actually easier level 20+ if going solo due to the toolkit, and if you don’t mind tanking, bear is good for finding a quick dungeon group compared to a pure DPS.
I’d go with the lock but yeah tough call between the 2 for me as well
Funny i main druid and intend to make my first alt a warlock. just trying to play something i have never played before. that being said, locks are going to be the superior solo lvler and pvper without a doubt. especially until trinkets are released in …phase 3??? lol.
i love my druid, love the versatility, love the anti druid mentality and trying to break the mold.
I have a warlock main, DPS, enchant+tailor
My alt is a priest heals herb/ALC
Now I have heals and DPS covered, my main can send gear to my alt, and my alt can send buffs to my main.
A 60 priest is in demand for raids, lock not so much, so now I can raid, occasionally with the lock, and have heals and DPS covered.
Try to synergize the alt main profs to help the lvling process.
As a fellow altoholic, I would recommend druid over warlock. Priests are already a very faceroll levelling experience with the same rotation from 10-60, and warlocks are in the same boat. So playing your alt won’t be a change of pace at all from your main.
Plus, since druids are a jack of all trades, you can get an all-in-one alt fix. No need to level a rogue, a warrior, and a mage - just pop some new gear on your druid and go on your way without spending the time investing in a new toon. Good mobility with travel form, always in-demand for groups due to utility.
Hell, I might go make a druid alt now…
Great input, ty all.
My priest is tailoring/enchanting and will be heals at endgame. Gear synergy would be great with warlock, but I can really see the two being too similar. I have a druid at 120 and really enjoyed it the whole way. Never played a warlock past 40 or so. Decisions, decisions…
Since you specified PvP, druid might be a better option, alli-side. Of couse, though, somebody has to warlock against those spooky undead.
