Beta is next week: Yet Physical CE People cannot join

Yes, I understand that you can “buy the game digitally, and when then physical CE comes in you will get the credit”. That is a garbage policy, I shouldn’t have to drop extra money for the SAME THINGS I am already getting.

You ask us to log into Battle.net in order to purchase the Physical CE, I would presume that you would also be able to give the key for the TWW Expansion attached to the CE. Apparently, that does not happen. In the year of our lord 2024 this still has not happened.

One of the biggest perks of pre-ordering TWW is beta access for those who want it, and those who order the physical editions miss out. Locking it behind a code inside of a box is silly when you link your Battle.net account to the purchase. EDIT: I misunderstood a previous perk, so I updated this paragraph for confusion.

And, the listing doesn’t mention specifically if the key is physical or digital. It just says “Redeem this key.” Those who have done this rodeo a couple times know this, but those who wouldn’t would probably be VERY confused, speaking you have to read the fine print to figure out the difference.

Plz blizz let us update this

Isn’t Beta access for pre-orders a new thing with TWW?

It is. But OP does have a point overall.

They have done it with other expansions. I don’t recall which ones, but it wasn’t consistent. It was always sold as a “perk”, but the physical CE members still miss out lol.

It wasn’t. The last time people were given guaranteed beta access was with the Annual Pass promotion during Mists of Pandaria beta. Which wasn’t for buying Mists, it was for the Annual Pass promotion.

That is probably where my confusion was from, because I had the annual pass. The only thing I remembered from the Annual Pass was getting D3 for free.

You’ll be fine. I haven’t even pre-ordered TWW, lots of people I know haven’t. Plenty of other things to do than play TWW beta.

The point isn’t whether “they’ll be fine.” The point is the amount they’re spending and not getting the perks.

Bro what kind of dismissive response is this? I’m trying to advocate for Blizzard to change how they handle Physical CE delivery of keys, especially when they’re selling beta access as a perk, and you’re like “you’ll be fine lol”.

It’s the same response I give to people in all the other threads complaining about not being in beta.

It also might be tinted by the fact that last weekend I threw out all the physical junk I’ve stockpiled from WoW/Starcraft/Diablo collector’s editions, over the years. Maybe I’m just jaded, at this point.

Oh wait, there’s another one on the shelf over there. Let’s see…

scurries over to check

Warlords of Draenor collector’s edition. Anybody want yet-another-mousepad or yet-another-behind-the-scenes-dvd before I toss them?

I mean, I’m collecting them and don’t have it. So, yes?

But, if you are really that jaded on this, this wasn’t the point of the post. I wouldn’t complain about Beta access if it was randomly granted or specifically granted. I PAID for this access and cannot get it because of how they handle this.

For physical collector’s editions, you’re paying for the physical tchotchkes that you’ll throw away in 15 years.

Well I guess if it’s a non cancelable purchase and it’s on its way eventually they could send you all codes with instructions how to activate perhaps.

Or just add you all to the epic pool for invites and stuff.

Don’t the physical CE’s go out around launch date? That used to be the problem with them, before digital downloads there were lots of cases of people who would preorder the CE and not even have the install discs yet when the expansion launched.

Yeah, there is solutions. Other companies do stuff like this where they will grant digital keys, and send the physical collector’s editions. The purchases are not cancellable. Blizzard CAN do it, they just don’t want to.

Yeah I think it’s something like that.

For Shadowlands I got mine about 2 weeks before Launch Date, I missed Dragonflight even though it launched literally on my birthday. So, yes.

They need to separate the Game Key from the physical items.

The collectors edition should not have a game key with it; then people can pre-purchase the digital version online.

Yeah, that is also a good solution that companies have done too.

So continually being dismissive. At least you’re consistent and admit it.

Bingo.
