Now that the next phase of the Classic Beta has pushed the level cap to 40, I thought we might join each other in sympathy.
Please keep salt to a minimum. Let’s talk, instead, about what we want to see in the classic. Here’s some topics to consider:
What was your favorite moment when you played back in the day? For those who joined later, talk about what you are excited to experiment with.
What do you like about Classic that you don’t like about Live? Let’s keep this one civil.
What class are you going to roll? What do you want to do with it (i.e. raid, PvP, RP, min-max)?
One of my favorite moments was when I was in Arathi Basin, trying to keep the Horde off of the flag. There were three druids who had all just resurrected and were heading to their cap point, so my timing was horrible. I did my best, vanishing into garrotes and prep-vanish-garrotting them again, kicking as fast as I could. Needless to say, I died. We didn’t even cap the flag at Stables.
What made me remember it so well was that my older brother had been standing behind me the whole time, unbeknownst to me. When I died he yelled out, “Dude! That was awesome.” A moment of failure for me became a moment of pride because of what I tried to do, not what I succeeded in.
Maybe that’s the glory of Classic that draws heroes back: community and trying the stupidest crap we could to succeed, or more likely fail, in spots that were impossible.
Stay adventurous!
