I click play in the launcher, It sits as a background process in task manager. I’ve tried deleting the regular folders, reinstalling the beta, reinstalling the beta on a different hard drive, adding console launch commands, updating drivers, etc.
(Retail opens without issue, other games play just fine)
Help?
Trend Micro was preventing beta from opening for one of my guildies. If you’re running any non windows defender AV make sure there’s an exclusion for the ``_beta_`` folder
I’m not running anything like that.
I even tried whitelisting that in windows defender.
Anything in the Windows Event log for the crash?
There is no crash. It will literally sit as a background process for hours. Event Viewer has nothing.
I’m assuming you’ve killed it and the bnet client at least once via task manager?
Yeah… I’ve tried closing the background process through task manager and refreshing event viewer to see if ANYTHING popped up in app/security/w.e at the same timestamp and not getting anything.
(Appreciate you trying, this has been driving me nuts, I might reformat my computer.)
Same here thought it was just me. Tried restall, cleaned cache, reboot computer, and still can’t log in.
The same thing is happening to me. The process starts but no client window opens. I tried running it as admin from the WowB.exe, uninstall/reinstall, whitelist in defender, command line arguments like -d3d11 or -console -uid wow_beta and none of that worked. The regular wow client and PTR work fine.
I am having the exact same issue and I have done all the things. So I dont know either. This is frustrating.
similar thing for me , I get an unexpected error message pop up 15 seconds after I press play . I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling teh beta client and battle.net , tried whitelisting teh beta in trend micro deleted folders , tried it all - nothing works
I dont get an unexpected error, it just never loads but there is a process running in the background.
I found a fix! This is what I did to make it work.
Searched for Command Prompt, right clicked to Run as Administrator
Entered in: sfc /Scannow [enter]
Once completed entered: DISM /Online /Cleanup-image /CheckHealth [enter]
THen: DISM /Online /Cleanup-image /ScanHealth [enter]
Restarted my computer then reopened Command Prompt as an administrator and then entered: DISM /Online /Cleanup-image /RestoreHealth [enter]
This took about 30 minutes and I have a fast system. Then I restarted my PC. It had a few updates to do, and then I loaded the Beta and it opened! I hope this works for eveyrone else who is having issues.
Also cannot access the beta at all now since the patch, all it does is open a 5mb RAM process that does nothing. Uninstalled and reinstalled twice, repaired twice. Zero ability to fix.
I was hoping this would be resolved with the new patch, but no go. So I tried all the things again and still nothing. But I finally ended up finding some old image-line guitar port drivers were not compatible with windows or something….not sure why that would cause WowB.exe to not execute.
I found memory integrity wasn’t turned on in my computer due to incompatible drivers. In the windows security/core isolation window there was a link under the memory integrity toggle that listed what the incompatible drivers were and they were all image-line drivers for my old guitar port. I uninstalled them, turned on memory integrity, rebooted, then I could launch the beta client. So weird.
Any updates to this? still an issue
I have the same problem as well
Blizzard any response here? like wtf?
I have the exact same issue, i did everything and what it work for me was uninstall citrix.
