Far superior.

But… if it has to be Yu-Gi-Oh!..

Yu-Gi-Oh! is best when it enters settings outside the Modern Ones.

Duelist Kingdom(from Season 1), Duel Monsters Quest(also from Season 1), Virtual World(from Season 3), Capsule Monsters(from 4Kids’s Capsule Monsters spinoff directed by one of Toei’s Directors to make sure nothing goes wrong with 4Kids’s creation), Millennium World(from Season 5) and Dark World(from GX Season 3) are all interesting settings compared to the rest of the Yu-Gi-Oh! verse.

I find Capsule Monsters superior to everything but Millennium World which should tell you about how bad the other Non-Modern Settings did(Duel Monsters Quest was too short and both Duelist Kingdom & Virtual World were too turn-based).

Yugioh (original) here and the un edited 4kids version also

I still question how no one gets arrested or locked away for stealing ancient egyptian relics.

These kids literally go to war over trading cards, cause untold destruction and mayhem and no one bats an eye lol.

I will say this though. Dark magician girl is kinda hot.

The original

I loved the characters, lost interest when yugi and kaiba disappeared

Pendulum and link were just too much for me personally. I still play decks without them because i cba learning how they work. I’ll stick to OTK chaos maxx turbo ritual decks :sunglasses:

I used to rush home from school as a kid to watch Yu-Gi-Oh 5DS.
But the original series is probably the better one.

The Egyptian Relics given to Bakura and Pegasus were given by the Egyptian Priests themselves! In otherwords they were Heirlooms legally belonging to the Priests to do with as they see fit!

The Relics owned by Ishizu and Shadi are Family Heirlooms and thus their legal property to do with as they see fit.

Yugi’s Relic is the only one actually stolen from the Tomb(also the only one actually buried in the tomb rather than serving as a Family Heirloom to be passed down from generation to generation).

Marik of course got his Relic by murdering the previous owner his father which is Inheritance Theft.

Solomon Muto and Marik are the only ones who should be in danger for possessing Millennium Items!

I only remember seeing the version where they turned guns into walkie talkies like it was E.T. removed the guns and cigs.

Original, and GX was ok.

Never saw the rest.

GX for sure.

Didn’t really care for the last season and how bizarre it got, but overall liked it best. Enough complexity with enough simplicity. As Yugioh went on (and the card game) it got too complicated with the equivalent of nuclear missiles being launched at each other every turn with an equivalent nuke in response.

Why was this post flagged? I mean sure it could be in the off topic section instead of GD but I’m having a hard time understanding why it was flagged?

Who do you think flagged it? The T’s

My voice gives me super strength!

We must mourn the Author of Yu-Gi-Oh! as he has apparently been slain by literal Sharks while Snorkeling.

Tis truly a dark day…

Ranking them in their English Sub versions (the best):

#1 Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s: (Major differences in the Dub where many episodes were cut)
Alot of the anime was just very dark through the entire series. You have your fortune cup arc and Yusei being tortured (and electrocuted) by sector security in his time in prison and how grim and horrible the Satellite is. You have the fortune cup itself which takes a dark turn with Aki/Akiza’s destroying the arena with her psychic power and the Arcadia Movement cult. The the entire Dark Signers arc and sacrificing people. Crash town is an amazing filler arc, and on top of it all you have the Illuminaty. By far the best series.

#2 Yu-Gi-Oh! DM (original): Do I need to say more?

#3: Yu-Gi-Oh! GX: (Like 5D’s a major difference where the entire last season was cut from the English dub). GX Is very close to #2 imo with DM being slightly better. The 1st season I wasn’t that big of a fan of it for the 1st half but it was still enjoyable, but where I started to really love GX is it’s Dark Riders arc and the graduation duel with Zane. Season 2 starts out a bit slow but interesting love the new characters introduced and the society of light especially Aster/Edo Phoenix. Neo Spacians were a bit silly though. Love the Zane becoming Hell Kaiser and his 1st duel with the shock collars was actually best in the Dub imo (very rare that a Dub episode is better than Sub). Season 3 is when it gets really dark and I loved it, especially Yubel and the deaths that follow. Then you get Season 4 (which was cut) and it was just great, you see what happened in the abandoned dormitory from season 1 with Fujiwara literally making a pentagram with his own blood and what happened with Atticus, and the Nightshroud arc and its ending all where great.

#4 Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal: As much as people bashed it the sub was actually pretty good. Yes Yuma is annoying but he kind of grows on you towards the end of Season 1. The real strength and enjoyment of this anime for me is really the side characters like Reginal Kastle (Shark) and Kite/Kaito Tenjo. Especially when the Barian arc occurs, which is imo the best part of Zexal.

#5 Yu-Gi-Oh! Vrains: I really enjoyed Vrains (aside from all of those recap episodes at the beginning) and I really enjoyed how you have damage characters like Yusaku and how they grow. I also liked the dynamic with the ignis compared to whom they were tied to and the later season where it got dark with the Light ignis and Ai. The villain’s such as Varis also had understandable motives especially when it comes to Sentient AI. Overall a good watch.

#6 Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V: If it wasn’t for the final few episodes this would easily be tied with GX for my #3 spot but the ball was completely fumbled at the end. It was dark from the near start, the world is broken into different dimensions and one dimension Fusion is commiting genocide on the XYZ dimension by hunting people down and turning them into cards. You have the mystery with the Yu boys and the Yu girls. Arc-V was intense and great especially when we enter the Synchro dimension and see alternate versions of our favorite 5D’s characters such as Jack Atlas and Crow Hogan. This series had so much potential and was at times as dark as 5D’s, mind control, torture, a Nut job villain who turns out to be right!

Then it just fumbles it at the end… the ending 10-20 episodes just fumbled the ball.

#X Yu-Gi-Oh! Sevens: I just couldn’t get into it, gave it 15 episodes and dropped it. So I cannot rank it.
