Best WPVP or Open world pvp specs currently?

Top 5 specs you think that are juggernauts in an open space type WPVP scenario. Say you’re crossing the Barrens outside of Orgrimmar and get jumped. Which specs would you just basically flop over to. I know different classes have different flaws and weaknesses but just the strongest specs in general vs the largest numbers of specs.

I know Rogue, probably all 3 specs, but what else? Tanks? Healers? I just enjoy more open conflicts, not as much the pillar hugging/running/positioning focus of Arena. My goal is to have tools to handle surprise attacks in an open space and have a big advantage in that specific scenario, because I love WPVP. I’ve been gone a while.

Ret

Blood

Nelf rogue

Nelf druid

I assume Boomkin? Because Feral doesn’t feel good right now (although I’m barely mid level at playing it if that).

Can confirm. Ret is unfathomably based in wpvp settings.

Any spec. The reason for nelf druid is because they like to shadowmeld and fly away when theyre losing.

Any variety, really, and just speaking historically

What about Blood vs Ret? Advantages and disadvantages of each in Wpvp? I have both of those level 60+ I can level and gear.

Ret takes Blood down to 30-40%, bops or bubbles so the Blood can’t heal, easy kill.

Rets absolutely shred tanks.

Seems like Ret may get hit hard with a nerf soon lol.

Open world pvp in any game with the type of invisible stealth classes that exist in WoW is not fun unless you are playing those classes. This traces all the way back to Shadowbane and DAoC, both games that had a lot of open pvp and ended up with everyone having a stealther alt of some sort. WoW is no different…

By now you think MMORPG developers would figure this out, but nope… they always create l33t stealth classes with few counters that end up limiting the choice of class you really want to play unless you enjoy being griefed 24/7.

Even when Ret is a C-tier spec, it still shreds tanks and is amazing in wpvp. Example: BFA, Classic

I’ve always thought I would love Rogue because of how I like to play, but they are just boring for me. They are incredibly fun to WATCH in tournaments because of how skilled the best Rogue players are, but I enjoy Feral a lot more. I think if Feral didn’t have 15 binds to do what most melee can do with 5… I’d just play that.

I’ve always played Druid’s in RPG’s, but cyclone spam, spamming tiger’s fury gets really old for me. I really wish Feral had a lot more build variety.

It has been four years of this so I wouldn’t count on it

Fair point. Even if not top tier in arena they are never not great in WPVP really.

Does Feral still die in a stun?

Probably hunter or rogue.

It’s hard to 1v5 since they took away gear upgrades, so being able to kill one then stealth away is basically winning.

What about Feral? Can’t touch them? For Hunter does that include Survival?

Feral is a good option too. I think rogue and hunter have better burst tho and have great escapes.

Probably worth noting that many pvp specific changes only apply to instanced PVP and not world PVP, including most of the tuning since at least Season 2 of DF. So, for example, Stormkeeper is stronger in world pvp and duels but is super nerfed in arenas for ele. The most recent Living bomb buff isn’t applied to the pvp dummy, dueling, or world pvp, etc. The previous pvp modifiers are there, just not the S2 or S3 tuning.

Not sure if it was intended or not but it’s worth considering and may be why some classes perform better or worse in duels and world pvp than they do in rated arenas or battlegrounds.

Open world pvp nothing beats a hunter. Camo for stealth, cc, knocks, high damage, capability to kite people. Outside sustain hunter has it all and you can always make distance feign and mount to get away
