Best ways to make gold in TBC?

I never played the first time around, and am finally starting to now. Whats a good way to make a solid amount of gold playing the game? I’m not looking to be a billionaire, but enough for consumables, essentials, etc. I don’t want to be mega rich, but not scraping the barrel either.

Sunwell isle dailies are a good way to start. Go enchanting and shard your greens is a good way too, Planar essences sell pretty well.

Keep an eye on cloth prices also, sometimes wool and mageweave can spike with new people joining the game. Farm the appropriate mobs for this cloth and sell it on the AH.

Everything Holyseizure said is spot on. Just doing your dailies most days and disenchanting the greens you get from killing to mobs will give you more then enough gold for your weekly raid consumes.

Only thing that I would add that gives you a nice little “boost” in gold when you hit 70 is go back and complete all quest in Outlands. You will hit 70 before you complete them all and the gold you get from them is nice. It was easily a few thousand on each of my characters I have done them on.

Yeah most of the outland quests are 10g each which is huge

It’s barely anything. I’ll explain, since players like you are largely ignorant of how much gold players are racking in or using.

1 Agility scroll on my server is 12g.
1 Haste potion is around the same.

Think about that for a minute. 1 daily quest isn’t even enough gold to buy one agility scroll or haste potion. Let alone both.

NOW the next thing. Players are literally making 10-20k gold a day selling sunwell BOE’s. Imagine spending your precious time doing daily quests when one player can just craft a sunwell BOE and make several thousand gold.

GDKP’s are an easy 500-5k gold per hour. The average person doing dailies doesn’t even get above 200 g/hr.

Conclusion? If you’re spending your time doing dailies, you’re wasting your time.

Not to mention you’re always being out competed by people who buy gold to begin with.

If you’re good at killing, you can easily get 100-120g a day in like an hour. or less, but max is 25 daily quests. On average, its 10g/quest. +all raw gold / greys / DE / AH. So it oculd be like 200g with just 10 quests?

But raw reward from 25 quests will be 250g + rest lootable stuff.

If you’re lazy like me, you can go fishing. I get about 70-100g/hour. Really depends on RNG.

But in terms of gold, what do you need it for?
5k flying + 1k gold for dual spec.

In Wrath, if you quest 70-80, it’s like 7000 gold from quests give or take 1k.

Not sure how you turned this post into a doom and gloom post about GDKPs and RMT but here we are.

You pointed out the price on Agi Scrolls and Haste Potions. Good job on cherry picking the 2 most expensive consumes to try and prove your point. Most classes do not use those.

I MAYBE spend 50g a week on raid consumes, and most of that 50g is Destruction Potions which my guild doesn’t require but I bring with me. If I didn’t want to bring those my raid consumes weekly would be around 10-20g

I just do my dailies most days and make more then enough money to pay for all my raid consumes and respec 2 times a week. So no, spending time doing dailies is not a waste of time. I don’t even know how you came up to that conclusion.

That was in response to the person above me talking about finishing outlands quests at 70.

Your opinion on GDKPs isnt important.

You should bring your thoughts to the info wars discord group.

Dailies
Questing at 70
Farming primals
Farming mobs that drop food crafts
Fishing

Whatever tickles your fancy from that list is what I would do. Knock your dalies out for the day, quest away on unfinished areas, and then farm mobs or fish. Fishing can be decent cause no one wanta to do it.

The best way to actually make gold is do GDKPs as a carry, but if you dont have a toon to carry with you’re kind of SOL

Yeah im not interested in getting involved in GDKP. Dailies, questing and fishing sounds much more like my thing so thanks for that.

Pssst. It’s a video game so any time spent on it is wasted!

And haste pots ain’t never reach 12g a pop, maybe 9-10 during SWP release but they’re on Faerlina horde right now at almost 6g a pop.

  1. Get mining or skinning and sell everything they make.
  2. Do daily quests. With sunwell already out, sunwell dailies pay really well.

Acquire things people need … and sell them for market price

inflation will never be a problem, people buying gold will never be a problem, because as long as you are selling what the swipers are buying … you will always be in the money.

fyi - copper rods are a vendor item located ~50 yards away from the Stormwind AH for ~1s … swipers are dumb, its all about separating them from their gold

My god dude you are a broken record.

@OP just do the Isle dailies, turn the cloth you get into bandages and vendor them along with all the greens you loot. Easy 200g a day at least.

what everyone else said expect griswald ignore that debbie downer

Apparently buy it.

….or gdkp raids hosted and run by people who’ve bought gold

Don’t sell gdkps short. I was the same way early on in tbc and since getting into them I’d rather gdkp then anything else besides MAYBE a sr when targeting 1 thing like mags head.

Realize if you pug and your loot doesn’t drop you get nothing. In soft reserve same thing. In Ms/os same thing

If you have to go against someone on a soft reserve there’s a good chance you don’t get anything.

In gdkp is the only time you are 100% walking away with more then you started. If that’s gold then more to spend next time. If it’s an item you paid a price you were happy with. It’s the loot system I’ve found most enjoyable.

Even in guild set ups with like dkp or sk it sucks because you know when your not gonna be able to get the gear you want. Nothing sucks more to me then knowing “if my weapon drops someone else for sure gets it”

You know you’re just going to swipe like everyone else.

No one plays this game anymore, they only pay it. They don’t want to raid, they just want to get gear. No one wants to do dungeons or have fun, they just want badges for loot.

im confused how are we earning gear if we are not killing the raid bosses?

GDKP is a great way to earn gear and yes there are RMTs involved with GKDPs got to take the good with the bad
