Best Way to Gift WoW?

A Canadian here,

I’m looking at the best way to gift a subscription to WoW for the holidays. I would like to gift 6 months to a year of game time essentially. This person as far as I know doesn’t have a BNet account.
Is there a better or more cost effective way of doing this than just buying physical Game Time cards? Can those still even be found or purchased.

Thanks in advance for any help!

I thought you had to have a bnet account these days? But I can admit when I’m wrong. Hope you find the answer to this

I’d say do them a bigger favor and don’t.

Don’t let the broke scrubs in this thread bring you down.

Create a new bnet and load up 6 months on it. Then Gift the info to the person

I think I once gifted a friend of mine a subscription.

They need an account to be gifted it, though.

Edit: Actually, I think you don’t need them to have an account now. I think it’s just an email address. Not sure. It’s been awhile.

This is true. I tried gifting WoW and sub time to somebody about a year ago, but you can only gift sub time if their account has existed for 3 days (I think?) beforehand.

Thanks! This could be an option! I’m assuming they would be able to change their BNet name and email address and the rest. My only concern would be having my credit card info attached to the account.

Hmm… perhaps load up a prepaid card from Walmart then. It’s an extra step on your part but you won’t have your real card on file

That’s a cute idea.

I took a look at that non-reoccuring subscription gift link I posted a little closer. It seems like they just need an email address now and they provide instructions on how to use the subscription via email.

I just looked at it too! And this seems like a great option! Thank you!

As far as I know, you can’t gift subscription time.

The best bet would be to gift them Wow time cards and/or Blizzard BNet Balance cards.

When gifting all your friend needs is a email account you give to Blizzard.
Blizzard will send you a conformation with the code for your friend that Blizzard sent your friend.
Your friend just than needs to create an Blizzard account.
In his account there is a place to redeem the gift.
if your friend does not receive an email from Blizzard just give him the code blizzard sent you. The code is Case sensitive.

There’s also another option I know of, but it’s a little more risky if you want your friend to go to WoW specifically. You can gift them bnet balance currency virtually in the launcher store by clicking the drop down menu for your own balance. All you need is their battle tag or real ID. They can do anything in the store with that currency, though. They could run off and buy Hearthstone card packs.
