should i bother gearing up with pvp gear to do pvp content or is using mythic+ and raid gear just as good if not better?
From what I’ve personally seen, the gear you get from PVP is decent starter/mid level, but the best stuff comes from high level PVE (sadly).
Best way to gear up at 110 is to get on the turtle quest and get a free piece of head azerite gear by collecting scrolls. (This means that when you get your first piece from the magni, quest, DO NOT take the helm since that is the only item you will get from doing that quest.)
The third piece will be from doing the first outpost after you get 100 war resources.
You now have better gear than 70% of the people at 110.
At 120, you want to do the quests in the warfronts and kill the rares. You want to ensure to pick up all the PVP quests. (The 25 one if available, and the 10 zone one)
If you are lucky you will ding 120 on a time walking week. Do Timewalking dungeons as they drop 360+ and there is no ilevel requirement.
Spam some mythic zeros.
Do the world bosses in all the zones.
Add in the raids and whatever once your ilevel is good
On my latest toon I was 375 in 3 days with minimal effort.
Depends on how much time you have. You only get conquest points for BGs if you win them. So that can take a while. Then again, getting into M+ and raids can take some time, too, but I think those give higher gear in the end. Best if you’re in an active guild.
PvP gives you a random loot drop for pretty low ilvl and (if you win BG’s) you can save up conquest for one piece per week on a set schedule. If you already have a better piece for that slot, tough luck.
A fresh 120 can buy a whack of 310-340 on the AH if you have 20k or so lying around, and that helps boost what PVE activities you can do right off the bat.
PVE is much easier and faster to get gear. You can do WQ’s/emissary rewards, warfronts, LFR, mythics, and the assaults are all ways to gear up. And, you can generally target the activities that yield the pieces you want.
TLDR: Do PVE it is easier and faster. Rip PvP vendors =(
I would do PvE content until like 350ish ilvl before doing a whole lot of PvP.
Way quicker and far less frustrating to gear up like that.
Naw this is only true for the specific azerite pieces really… Between conquest, random drops and random chest you get almost as much as random pve. The big one is azerite trait hunting is more predictable if done through pve.
The fastest way to gear in general is to do high level pve and PvP together. Those that do tend to have a 10ilvl or more jump on those that only do one or the other.
If you only have time for one and you enjoy PvP, just do PvP. Then if you’re still hunting traits later find out exactly what bosses drop your stuff and farm those mythics/spend rolls on bosses and save residum.
Bgs and emissaries are decent. Weekly items are good too.
Doesnt matter where you get it from you want high ilvl and bis stats/traits theres no pvp power or resiliance anymore
What I found last season is that low arenas can give decent gear weekly. 1400+ rating should give 395 gear in each week chest this season.
Gear is gear. Do what you want to do basically. But, fair warning, gear from pvp is on a set schedule so you need to cap through the system for the piece you want. It’s not hard capping 500 CP/week though and unlike other expansions, if you miss a week or two they don’t shave off points. Also, if you only cap 450 points one week, you can make up the other 50 on top of capping the next 500 (just can only open one chest rather than both)
