Best way to gear my fresh 70 now?

I didn’t have time to get gear from Forbidden Reach this toon and just got back to game. Pretty much solo player as I have to insta log a lot. I tried going to FR but every single MOB was up and no one was killing… went there 4 different times yesterday and today… and I am on Area52. Was surprised.

What do you guys recommend to get the highest ilvl before next Tuesday?

Goto the new zone and get the gear , upgrade it with those light things

Oh the new zone drops gear liek FR did?

Do the 10.1 campaign, you can upgrade that gear you get to 398 pretty much for free (flightstones rain like candy).

Do the 5 heroic dungeon quest for a 415 item.

Get Drake shadowflame crests from rares and you can turn that into 408 gear by getting an enchanter to make the new version of titan training matrixes and using it to get crafted gear (that doesn’t require sparks)

Also rares have a chance to drop Adventurer and Veteran gear that you can upgrade even higher.

No you get upgradable gear from quest and you get currency to upgrade it,. there also a quest in the city in the side building where you pick up the weekly rep for 415 gear that you can upgrade to 424

Got it, thanks you two… I sorta forgot they released the entire questline. Things are very confusing right now for a new"ish" player heh

No. It’s inferior to Forbidden Reach in that regard.

You’ll get bad gear that you must grind to upgrade. Maybe a world quest will give you a higher quality gear piece that you’ll need to grind to upgrade.

Worse gear actually, but you can upgrade it. I got a few Zaralek drops that started at 402, though, which can be upgraded to 421, I think.

It is worse.
But right now there should be no one left on that island, making it impossible for the new player to kill anything.

I really don’t understand this move on Blizzard’s part.
New items should start with an ilvl equal to or higher than the island’s ilvl and thus be able to upgrade it.

Besides that right now it is more difficult for the new player to change from 69 to 70 because of the 25% increase.

Yes, players have more health, but right now it should be harder in general to do quests as a new player because enemies have 25% more damage.
And for classes like Mages, whose shields only hold for one or two hits and don’t have any kind of self-healing it must be harder than for the rest.

You can upgrade the greens from the new campaign. But, I strongly suggest you don’t. Go ahead and do some War Creche runs at the Forbidden Reach. You’ll have a whole set upgraded in no time.

The new greens, fully upgraded are only 3 item levels higher, and you’ll have wasted all your flightstones. Save them for blue or purple drops from rares and world quests in the new zone.

The only thing I know about the “Forbidden Reach” is there was a trailer or something blaring to “return” there, when I’ve never been there (at least maybe I blinked and missed it or it’s a place that has been renamed?). There is no quest giver or any direction or anything. When I tried to fly there, I was auto-dismounted in the air and plummeted to my doom. So I gave up trying to figure it out by reading walls of text or watching BS videos about it where they don’t have actually show or explain how to do anything to get to where they are at.

Also, what is Embers of Neltharion all about? Who is that guy who is presented like he’s all important Diablo Jr. and fries a Thrall-esque Centaur guy? Is he supposed to be important? Who are those other creatured beings he’s with? Are they copy/pasted from an asset store? They don’t look like they fit the game’s art style. What the heck are they even talking about? Why do they speak at .5x speed? And was the dialogue copy/pasted too? It was all very generic “we gonna destroy all who oppose us”-speak, like a cheap Saturday morning cartoon knock-off-type, and of the quality that could only be found airing on an obscure UHF channel.

I’d argue the new zone is better than Forbidden Reach. I like guarantees and having quests (easy ones at that and even the remotely hard ones you got a tank NPC following you around) giving you guaranteed drops with upgrade currency that is more than enough to upgrade a far better system than flying around and trying to kill rares and hope you get a drop and hope it is for your armor type and then hoping it’s for the slot you want and then having to upgrade it which, at least, you probably have currency once you get to this step considering all the other RNG hoops you jump through.
