What’s a good all round lock spec currently and best race?.
All specs are viable. Actually, if you look at the current raid, all 3 are ranked #2-#4, behind shadow priest. I would say destro is the best right now, because of the ability to cleave and flashpoint trait creating a significant advantage, like a mini bloodlust with high uptime.
Race doesn’t matter much. If I were to roll a new one though, I’d pick gnome for that 1% haste buff. I love me some haste
I love undead, but in theory trolls are marginally the strongest race for locks. To be sincere, like my fellow Mesoc said, any race should be fine, and all three specs are fairly competitive at the moment for a raid environment. For dungeons Demo will likely be a better option but the other two do fine, and for PvP all three pretty much suck.

It’s a good time to pick the spec you prefer as the marginal difference fight to fight isn’t large enough to favor one at this point. Keep in mind that affy and destro have similar itemization, while demo will have two main itemization routes based on EP trait or not (neither of which overlap with the other two specs very well).
As for races, pick based off your preferred casting animations imo. I did swap to orc for BfD as they are marginally the strongest for demonology, but it was also like 70% to mix up the casting animations I’d been looking at for 2 years.
All Warlock specs are currently doing well. Warlocks as a whole are in a really good place, so just choose which spec you enjoy playing. I switch between all three specs periodically and I have a lot of fun on each one.
As far as races, it doesn’t matter so choose which one you like the look of. Personally if I don’t like the look of the race or the animations I don’t enjoy the class as much. I think Orcs make great warlocks both animation and lorewise, plus they get a bonus to pets. My second pick would be Nightborne, but I personally didn’t like their casting animation where it looks like they are having a headache.
I alternate between Demo and Destro depending on what the need is. That being said, as others have mentioned all 3 are viable.
What? Destro is one of the strongest casters in pvp right now. It is everywhere in the tourney and the 3v3 bracket.

Been playing affliction since vanilla and still compete well with any group I join mythic or raid. Personally prefer the higher mobility.
Them snares yo. It has two spec specific ones and SF. You’d be a moron NOT to use it in 3s
