I mainly play Destruction spec on my warlock… but Horrific Visions (with masks) have been a struggle for me. There’s so many things that require you to move your character out of something, dodge something, get away from your corruption, etc. and its REALLY frustrating to try and get my Chaos Bolt casts off.
I’m considering switching to Affliction so I can just dot everything up, move out of stuff, what spec would you recommend for Horrific Visions?
Apparently affliction is easiest at it because of the dotting up thing you just said. But f it, I’m not respeccing azerite. Destro is fine tbh. Go cata and roaring blaze
I don’t know warlocks well enough to comment on that, but if you are having to move that much then you might be pulling more than necessary. Even at 5 masks, most abilities don’t hit too hard, so eating one here or there is definitely worth it to get more casts off.
My advice is to take your time and pull one pack at a time. Your cloak is rank 15, so even if you somehow didn’t even have the elite extermination perk from the research tree, you should still have far more than enough sanity to take things slow. Also, don’t be afraid to cc, especially on some of the tougher packs. Destro is definitely capable of handling visions, so I don’t think you should change specs if you prefer it.
Something to remember is you aren’t locked into a spec.
My first time 5 masking it, I went enhance for the clearing. Then switched to Elemental for bosses.

I mean it doesn’t really matter since all 3 are probably equally as “bad” in them. Aff with ID is probably the “best”, but it is personal preference and I refuse to touch that spec. I prefer Demo over Destro since it ties me to a 1 minute cooldown instead of a 2 minute and has more consistent AoE.
Lack of a kick doesn’t matter at this stage of the game when you kill the bosses that need kicks (trade district and umbric) in like 10 seconds.
Demonology is pretty easy for Horrific Visions, it’s definitely what I recommend.
Eh I don’t recommend 5/5 because the 12+ areas are annoying as hell.
My opinion is to have an Affliction set and a Destruction set.
Most of the content you can easily do as Destruction but Affliction is particularly good for Thrall and Alleria.
I crush 5 masks as Affliction at iLvl 460. Only issue is Rexar. He is never an easy kill.

I haven’t had much luck as Aff, even with the Inevitable Demise. At higher masks things have so much health, and having a way to nuke at frequent intervals makes it much easier (for me). I’ve mainly been running Destro at around ilevel 450. My trinkets are bargain-basement, and I’m using a 445 main/offhand combo.
I came back to the game well after Visions launched, so I’m late to the party, but I’m routinely doing 4-mask runs and have completed a 5-mask in Stormwind on my lock. I will say it’s the character on which I’ve struggled the most.
I run with Cataclysm, Roaring Blaze, and Mortal Coil (which can be a run-saver), and with Breath of the Dying as my major essence. Breath of the Dying has been a tremendous boon for me on my Warlock in particular with it short cooldowns and high availability when used optimally, and significant damage bonus when empowered.
(Purification Protocol can be very valuable as a major in Horrific Visions, and I do sometimes run it to help with mass pulls on single-mask and no-mask runs.)
I wasn’t asking for me. For the guy that made this thread.
I do have one suggestion for this guy though. Remember to use your banish for certain mobs. Since you can banish demons, elementals and aberrations, it may be expedient with certain of the void creatures, among other things. It knocks them out of action until you want to kill them.
I…I think I love you. Been so long since I’ve ever needed Banish…I’ve forgotten what all it worked on.

I learned that far too late. Only when I posted my “victory” thread here the other day did someone tell me you could switch specs (mighta been you actually).
But the following week was much easier knowing that. Did AoE Arcane for most of it, swapped to single-target Frost for Rexxar and Thrall.
