Best Timewalking class?

What class tends to do the most damage in timewalking?

Anything with a short ramp-up time and good legendaries from previous expansions: Arcane or Frost Mage, Arms or Fury Warrior, Ret Paladin, Havoc DH.

In the past my Monk was pretty good.

Windwalker, FDK, Outlaw, Havoc, BM/MM, Frost Mage, Fire, Demo lock
Basically any burst aoe/cleave.

An Arms Warrior/Retribution Paladin with Shadowmourne in BC/Wrath, Pandaria cloak and Legion legendaries it’s insane doing damage there. Cata and under with a caster with Tarecgosa’s/Pandaria cloak/Legion Legendaries it’s also nuts, specially Aff Warlock or Balance Druid (Since every individual DoT can proc an extra tick from Tarecgosa’s).

I agree with most of these, but speaking as a former Monk main, Windwalker is only a chart-topper when other DPS are slacking. If you’re running with exceptionally good DPS, the ramp-up time of popping Xu’en, Touch of Death, and SEF becomes a serious problem.

If you have legion tier gear still, give that a shot too, pretty sure those set bonuses are the only ones that still work

But my shadow priest was the top dps in all the ones i did with old legendaries

Yeah Windwalkers the only one that’s pretty risky to bring into a group since once ToK’s gone that WW is just eating damage like crazy and has no means of survival other than mobility to run for your life and lose dps, on top of their dps being so reliant on C/Ds now with lackluster output outside of the C/D bursts.

Oh I completely forgot S Priest with the legendary that spreads your dots via mind sear after entering void form, probably really good after the S Priest changes.

But yeah the general consensus is Havoc = GOAT

< Prot war, then again, I’m twinked so…just wish i had the cape on this toon. I have cape and 715 and 795 ring on my warlock. Also have Dragonwrath, but don’t use it as 1H and OH is better IMO. I’ll give dragonwrath a chance after i gem it, but currently, my 1H is Sha touched gemmed, with extra gem, enchanted, offhand is gemmed enchanted so it makes for more damage.

Also having the prizerock neckband on 3 toons is nice.

As long as you’re better geared than the rest, you’ll be top, and know how to play of course, but class rotations aren’t as unique as they used to be. As far as what works the best regarding most damage, you’d have to compare numbers from previous runs. Being top is only because you’re better geared and or know how to play the class very well (as well as the damage % formulas blizzard has created for our abilities).

I’ve been top as fury, as prot, as destro lock, and I’m sure I’d be top on my toons that i have yet to twink out for tw. After twinking out 3 of them though, and dps queues are saddening, I just spam tank prot war, thunderclap for 4k dps on trash.

I noticed that tarecgosa doesn’t really proc in Timewalking. I’ve found a socketed weapon and offhand do better.

I’ve also been building up a timewalking set for Frost. I’m debating getting rid of the Azerite chest in order to use the Spellfire set, as it looks pretty promising. It’s a shame that the Tomb of Sargeras frost 2set bonus got nerfed to the ground.

Anything with good and frequent burst AOE, same as regular dungeons. Only difference is nobody remembers what bad stuff to not stand in.

The blue puddles in Grim Batol are a damage increase, so they are GOOD to stand in. While I can tolerate the trash damage on me, I stand in them as tank which means adds are in them as well most of time. Trash dies before they do too much damage so it’s okay. Usually tank should pull them out and dps stands in puddles.

Farm TBC heroics for gems

I’ve used dragonwrath on my other warlock in TW in previous xpacs and it worked, but haven’t tried it since I found 1h OH. I think it does work, but considering what they did to Fangs of the father…I wouldn’t be surprised, I’d be really disappointed because that staff cost a lot of gold. Having 2 makes it that much more. Check combat log.

I checked Details several times over several dungeons/expansions and as a Frost mage, Dragonwrath’s procrate was… far, far below 1%. The only times I’d ever see procs are on things such as Frozen Orb ticks, and that’s once in a blue moon on huge trash pools.

I think Fangs is the only leggo with the sad unnecessary nerfbat. Also nearly any pre Legion tier set.

Yeah, sadly, Dragonwrath, after using it for a little bit, proc rate was really low, but least you get to turn into a dragon.

What I did find out though for caster dps…as I have it on my warlocks…Unblinking gaze of something…the trinket from Iskar in Hellfire Citadel. During current it wasn’t so great because of the beam being so skinny it would miss some mobs, but it scales Godlike in timewalking.

I’ll upload a video I made to YT on my channel Honesteagle98. Warlocks name is Peqvals.

Also, if any of you have the cloak from MoP, use it…Yu’lon is amazing.

It’s such a shame that things like the cape aren’t BoA. I’ve got things strown out all across my characters: WoD ring on a hunter, MoP meta and cape on a DK, Legiondaries on a mage. Just can’t get the best deal out of it. Thanks for the tips with the trinket, though! I have no idea what trinkets are best for casters.
