My 2nd char back in Vanilla was a Warlock and my main for many years. But I started playing Demo again in SL. What is the best tanking pet for elites or tough solo bosses? The Void or Fel Guard?
Thank you.

While Voidwalkers have more durability and sustain, you want to use Felguard at all times as Demonology Warlock. They’re one of most integral part of your damage profile as a Demonology Warlock.
You can use Voidwalker if you really want to focus your minions surviving. But do remember that the more damage you do in terms of single target, the more durable and sustained you and your pet are thanks to Soul Leech.
Makes total sense, thank you.
As noted above if your demo then definitely use your Fel Guard for that spec he’s your best option.
Definitely Felguard, though in Torghast the Void Walker should be you’re go-to emergency tank, especially if you have instant-cast Summon Demon.
As others has said, the felguard/wrathguard is essential if you want to deal any real damage as demo, he gets pretty tough once you get geared.
Void for tough bosses since healing the Felguard is a pain and resummoning him removes all threat. Voidy can be slow summoned while he is dying, go taunt, take over.
Only applies basically for soloing elites and such. 98% of the game or more it’s set on fg and forget.
Yeah what this guy said. For, like, 99% of the game go Felguard. Felguard has much better DPS and is also much better at holding AoE threat, especially if you have the Demonic Strength talent. It’s squishier than the VW but not by that much. It’s biggest weakness is the lack of a taunt. In AoE pulls it can still gain aoe threat off of you somewhat quickly when you fel dom a fresh one out since your own personal threat is actually very low (most of your damage is done by pets so they get the threat generation) but against a single tough elite you’ve been waili g on for a while it’s going to take some time to pull off of you. So against a big tough elite you either try to keep your felguard alive, or…
The Voidwalker is great with single elites. If an elite is messing up your felguard real bad, swap to the VW. VW will still die quickly, but not as fast as the Felguard, and, most importantly, the VW has an actual taunt. This means as soon as you summon it, it’ll taunt the elite off of you immediately, rather than Felguards slow eventual catching up on threat. Thanks to this you can disregard the health and safety of your blueberry and start to really exploit it. Rather trying to keep it alive, just dps until your VW is somewhere about 25-50% based on how hard the mob is hitting, then start summoning it again without fel dom. It’ll be stunned while you’re summoning it but it’ll still have threat, and the moment you summon the fresh one, it’ll immediately taunt the elite and go straight back to tanking. Do note that this is a strictly single target thing. It’s no good against multiple targets.
Edit: oh and it should be noted, strictly Felguard for legacy raid stuff. I’m pretty sure raid bosses are immune to pet taunts, which severely limits VWs use in raids.
