Best tank for beginners?

I am trying to decide between brewmaster and blood…which is better/easier for beginner tanks?

Brewmasters pretty fun.

neither, honestly. paladin is much more straight forward.

Paladin.

Brewmaster is awesome - but,… odd,… I think it’s best for a more experienced tank. I find Blood funkin’ boring brutha.

DK.

Set it up right and you won’t die.

Why has nobody mentioned druid or DH ?
Druid, switch to bear , be a bear.
DH, jump, jump, jump , jumpy jump jump … plus never die from falling damage again thanks to glide and ton of self heal :slight_smile:

Just take the time to learn to play it and roll with the Brewmaster -

Plus once they fix Mist - Monk WILL be the most fun & best class in all of the world of warcraft. :wink:

Protection Paladin is the single-most best beginner-friendly Tank right now.

Not only is it balanced a bit on the stronger side, but the abilities are very newbie-friendly and intuitive:

Including the ability to:

  1. Make yourself invulnerable to future damage for a short while in case you mess up and need big healing;
  2. A huge instant-cast heal that will bring you to full-life, shares a cooldown period with the former invulnerability;
  3. Plenty of AoE abilities with high threat generation to hold targets better;
  4. An ability that will break roots, snares and slows, and make you temporarily immune to them;
  5. An ability that gives you access to epic ground mount level of speed in short bursts for quicker maneuverability;
  6. The ability to shield an ally from harm, or other outgoing/incoming sources;
  7. And more, but those are pretty “key” to the tanking role

Paladin has it all, and it’s in a very solid state right now.

Others are mentioning Brewmaster, but it’s less straightforward and can be a bit niche at times–But it is strong.

I really like brewmaster, but Prot pally is pretty decent too.

I’d say bear is the easiest to get started with. Blood rune management can be an issue if you aren’t paying attention.

I would say paladins, mostly because of holy sheild and talented bubble helps makes it easier most fights. Though other tanks specialize better in certain fights then paladins, they are a good all around tank.

The DH has a point you know - Don’t forget about Veng DH - they are tanks with the “feel” of a melee DPS - GREAT FUN too.

I personally have a distain for DHs because blizz took our monk orbs and gave them to DHs- OOOOhh that P’d me off when legion came out.

WW is sittin’ pretty right now, so it’s all good. I forgive you DHs.

I love being a VDH. and having an extra charge as I’m a NF is a bonus too (plus the hunt hits like a mac truck) much less my fairy friends that come and heal me.

They’re all fairly straightforward… Brewmaster Tend to be More forgiving if you sort of screw up cool downs…

Guardian Druid is by far the easiest tank. They are also very good right now.

Unless you think you’re cool and you can time it close to the ground but you have lag so you hit space bar and nothing happens, hit the ground and die…then your corpse jumps

:scream:

Brewmasters pretty easy as you will not really get bursted down due to the stagger mechanic, big bursts of damage will instead slowly tick you down instead of instantly dying. Will make it easier for the healer too.

I would say BwM is easier since they changed the stagger mechanic this expansion. Blood isn’t complicated but the health yo-yo can really screw with an inexperienced healer.

That said, I think Paladin and Guardian are both probably more new tank friendly than either of them.

For a beginner? Paladin the best for a beginner tank who wants to learn about tanking.

If what you mean is that you want something easy then I’d recommend DH.
