Best spec to learn tanking?

I’d just like some opinions here, I’ve been nothing but a filthy melee DPS main since I started playing WoW years ago and have started to really enjoy learning the optimal routes to take in dungeons, etc. so I figured it might be good to pick it up

Dunno what class I should even look at though, I don’t wanna pick something that’s gonna be mind-numbingly boring or suck (I see you Prot Warrior players on the forums complaining I don’t wanna go down that rabbit hole)

I’d go bear or monk. They’re pretty simple class atm

I’ve not tanked but I kinda feel Monk?

Stagger is completely passive so, you don’t need to worry as much about midagation as other specs.

Please correct me if I’m wrong

I did Protection Pally years ago and enjoyed it, and they are supposed to be very good now. I have maimed Blood DK since the very end of WoD and love it. You get a love/hate relationship from healers though. On the chance you are maining something that is not pure dps, try tanking in its option first though.

bear because we are BEAR RAWR!!!

easy to learn.

Warrior is a good class to learn tanking…easy to play.

Because next patch It will be op
Right now they suck, so learn it this patch.

I haven’t used BrM since MoP. It just feels weird to me now. But unless they’ve changed it recently one of the things you do have to manage is your stagger.

The staggered damage is still going to hurt you, it just comes in slowly instead of all at once. To get around that, you drink a brew that clears all the staggered damage. So, a lot of the mechanics revolve around timing when to use the various brews (defensive abilities). It probably just amounts to drink the clear stagger brew when the buff turns red though.

I like prot pally, but I’d say VDH is one of the easiest tank specs. You really don’t have much to worry about. Just hit the DPS buttons when they’re up, throw glaive to collect errant adds and hit your defensive button when the boss does its big move. The regen abilities are pretty much baked into the regular rotation. On the other hand, VDH doesn’t have much in the way of utility.

Druid tank is an entry level I think, also blood dk is fun but risky

Warrior is by far not the easiest to learn. Bear takes that spot. Prot pally is simple as well.

Monk is squishy and has a bit of a higher skill cap to do correctly and know what to do. I’d say go Paladin.

I say druid. It’s so easy you can do it with your…

Bear hands!

Do you have a problem with DK’s?

Such a bad joke.

Guardian Druid is definitely the easiest rotation and very forgivable. If druid doesn’t interest you though, a Paladin can be pretty easy to play and has a lot of room for skill advancement.

u mean paws

Bear is good, because if it’s not for you, you can do any other role.

Bear would be a good choice to learn, there isn’t much complexity, but you have the tools available to do your role and cover some of your mistakes. Personally, I think it’s somewhat boring though and if you don’t like furry butts you’d best get used to it because you’ll be looking at one a lot.

Filthy dps checking in. My favorite tank is my death knight, his main spec is frost. Then my demon hunter that mains havok. Third fav is my boomkin. All great tanks when I swap them over.
