Best spec for warrior tanking end game dungeons

Just wondering what is the best spec for warrior tanking end game dungeons as a fresh 60 and even beyond?

Currently I am arms and fury spec. I tank with arms for SS> WW then go def stance Demo shout and even equip 1h + Shield when the mobs slap hard.

Is this viable for BRD, LBRS, DM, Scholo, and Strat? I feel like maybe trying 31/0/20 could be interesting. This way i gain some defensive stats but keep SS.

I feel like fury prot is a way off for me and dont know how many raids ill be tanking, maybe down the line for the troll stuff.

Deep prot seems like its not that great after 20 points into it, but im not too sure. (first time warrior in classic)

If I was going to be tanking dungeons I would run 2H arms SS build with all dps talents. As long as you have plate on its fine. Keep a shield for the few bosses that hurt and you’ll be great

I used to love tanking as a fury back in the day when they still allowed it. Slightly squishy compared to prot but super great survivability. I wish we could still tank as fury in retail…tank shortage they say? Make tanking fun again instead of a 2 button AoE snooze fest where you get yelled at for doing more damage than bottom DPS.

I do prot build while solo questing in Classic but not for tanking as much, you don’t die as much but your rotation is lackluster even in Classic and the damage of a straight 100% prot is super low compared to how it should be. Shammy guy said it right. Don’t tank prot cuz you’ll be forced into it against your will later on anyways so have fun tanking while you can.

Tanking should be fun, not stressful. Can’t hurt to have a designated pocket heals following you around open world gameplay on a warrior. Then you are a two person army at that point and are unstoppable vs both enemy players and a massive army of NPCs.

standard arms 31/20/0 works just fine, for dungeons you only need 5% hit so just fill out your gear like it’s a pvp set (5% hit>stam>armor/crit to 20% anything beyond that is bonus>str/agi). keep a 1h and shield on hand and it’s fine.

the prot tree is bait. Anything past the defiance row is genuinely wasted points.

my only warning for tanking as 2h, if you’re fighting anything that can MC and you have windfury, try to avoid getting MC’d with your 2h equipped. In the process of running 50+ strat ud for baron capes/d1 pieces for guildies/rep I managed to wipe my own group multiple times while running on auto-pilot during the banshee boss.

If you’re not tanking raids your spec hardly matters.

Just wear plate know which mobs hit hard enough to go S+B

You can tank with all the specs, arms/fury/prot just depends on what you want to do. Dungeons=Any will do, PvP tank=Prot, Raid=Fury/Prot and Deep Prot. Now if you complain that the dps generate to much threat in the dungeon then were gonna have a problem because your wrong.

If you have the +Hit and Decent weapons Fury Prot is good.
If you don’t have the +Hit and decent weapons Deep Prot is good.

The only ability you really need as a warrior to tank effectively is defiance(3rd tier Prot Talent). Most people don’t understand that the vast majority of talents are filler to get to the ones you want. Like look at your prot tree. If you’re DW or not using Sword + Board everything but Imp. Bloodrage is a filler talent.

I’ll post a couple/few builds for you, none of them will be “Meta” unless it’s coincidental.
