I main demonology and I’ve been attempting this challenge but I CANNOT for the life of me find time to cast. There’s always a laser, a bomb, the aoe smash, the flamethrower…. Ugh
Is this even possible as demo or destro?
I’ve tried affliction as well and that seemed to work best. Got him to 54% so far. The other specs I just don’t have any time to cast anything, especially demo. Getting a full tyrant ramp seems impossible
Edit: For clarity I’m referring to ?? tier. Auto correct removed the second question mark from the title
Just any ST spec of any Spec can do this… honestly its really not a hard fight. Was a one shot… it just comes back to using everything in your tool kit.
Its a really simple fight if you actually use whats been given to you.
It comes back to people complaining Delves are too hard, pets die etc… Use everything you have instead of treating it like an M+ where you have a tank or healer…
Gave it a whirl earlier and went in blind. While I am 662, it was comically easy. I expected some phase changes and spells to interrupt, and then I realized pretty quickly it was a very simple cycle and kicking the balls into the adds matters more than anything else (other than dying outright). I’m disappointed, to be honest, but I imagine blizz didn’t want to overdo it.
So. I want to say. If you’re someone that isn’t a mythical player and you go in to Underpin ?? and you don’t one shot it, that’s absolutely ok.
Not all of us, and I’m one, can do encounters in our sleep like some of these folks. Some of us, I’d argue the vast majority of us, will have to try and try and try again. That’s ok.
Don’t get discouraged, don’t quit. If you need to step away and get more ilevels or just take a breathing, that’s ok. You are only beaten if you quit.
These encounters are NOT implemented like Kanrethad was, or the Mage Tower encounters. This is not tailored made to your class. Some classes are going to be severely at a disadvantage. So if you need to switch characters/classes to do it? That’s ok.
If it takes a 100 times, fine. 200? Fine. 300? Fine. In my opinion, the fact you kept fighting on and did it after 300 tries shows just how determined and resilient you are. That’s much more impressive than some bloke going in and one shoting it.
Also as a side note, is there a way to prevent Brann from freezing bombs to the ground? I’ve actually died to this several times and it’s really annoying
Completely agree… Learn it and it will make you a better player.
Completely disagree! Throwing your body at something time and time again and not changing what you do but awaiting the perfect RnG on bomb spawns/placement isnt an achievement.
Learning and adapting is… however being able to adapt and learn quicker is much more impressive than taking seeing a mechanic 20 times before you go ‘oh thats what i need to do’.
I mean… look theres a way to avoid the mechanic… the bombs dont cover 30% of the arena, so if he freezes you need to find space.
Its like crossing the road… know whats going on before you make your move. Nothing wrong with running away from a frozen bomb and replanting… Stick a gate down with an exit route if you get into that position.
Was much easier as affliction. Being able to deal damage while moving and kicking bombs was helpful. Once I got the pattern and positioning down it wasn’t too bad. Still some RNG but if you place yourself properly bombs will spawn where you need them
Overall I’d say it’s a pretty well designed fight, although it does feel like it’s got less going on than other challenge content for some reason. Maybe that’s just me tho
Just glad to have it done and I got my golden mount skin
Finally finished it after about 20 tries, and only 3 or 4 were what I would consider good attempts. That fight is pure chaos, but you can control some of it with positioning.
Used Hellcaller Destro ST cleave. If adds drop below 10 mill you can shadowburn mayhem spam to help clear if you cant bomb. The faster burst dmg is great, and I didn’t struggle with his shield absorbs.
Just got it done as Hellcaller Affliction at about 649 item level. Like other’s have said its really all about positioning the boss at all times. This can be tricky for sure, there are a lot of one shots going off all over the place. You have to be careful not to be too close to the walls or to the center otherwise bombs end up in really hard places to kick from. At the same time, keeping Underpin near the edge (not on it) away from the center and with a enough space between him and the last set of adds/corpses will usually get them to spawn more cleanly in row to make them a little easier to deal with.
Problem is the fight is really unforgiving as you experiment and learn how things go with positioning since everything except the canons from the adds is a one shot, and even those like to juggle you to death or right into the flamethrower. It gets more manageable as you go.
I’d say the most important thing is to keep moving him around the arena so that adds always spawn together. If you stay on the corpses of old adds, they are more likely to split to each side of those bodies and make it more hassle for you.
I completed “??” as Destruction this weekend. Keeping on top of bombing the adds to reduce me having to move was the key to keeping uptime and finishing the boss. Once he fell into Shadowburn execution phase it was super easy.
Did it on my 659 destro main on ?? yesterday. It’s all about handling the positioning and timing the damage correctly, which is way less intuitive than it was on Zekvir. It’s more difficult than Zekvir if you don’t know the strats, but easier once you figure it out. I’d say the most important things are binding your interact key and learning to kick bombs with it, keeping the boss located near clear sections of the arena wall when ads are about to spawn (if you’re there early enough, he will spawn bombs close to next ads), and pushing the boss HP under 80% just before the 2nd wave of ads spawns. That way you have an empty room to burst him down in. I popped all cooldowns on pull, then none with the empty room when it’s easy to do your rotation, so I had them again when I had to do the shield with ads/falling bombs. Experiment with the damage, if you can pop some and have the DPS to save a trinket or a pot for the next shield, then do. Also, DBM boss ability timer, put that exactly in the middle of your screen. I did that during Zekvir, and it helped me with all content, but especially Zekvir and Underpin. You have to be aware of what’s coming up at all times without having to look for that information. Then you just repeat it. Once I perfected it, I went from 50% best pull to a kill.
