What is the best spec right now 8.1 for leveling 110-120 on a hunter qland for farming?? Let me know thanks.
Beast Master duh, MD + Barrage the crap out of everything, Dire Beast drop on stragglers you missed. I use a Corehound for 15% Leech, Its reflect damage bonus, and body armor spell; it’ll stay alive a lot longer than a tenacity pet even Spirit Beasts.

Beast Mastery hunter will always be my favorite hunter.
We don’t speak of that time in Cataclysm where I went survival.
Easiest Corehound to get is the north isle of the Draenei Starting zone, its a white puppy inside a cave, because its a quest target it will respawn quickly in case you want two of them for Animal Companion. I don’t recommend Animal Companion.
I’ve played MM hunter for years. I have 2 at 120, use it a lot. In the past I tried beastmaster, but it had too many pet spells. I couldn’t put them all on my action bars. But that was before pruning. I haven’t tried BM lately.
And survival is a DPS spec now, not a ranged spec. Basically it is a melee pet class, a completely different class.
My MM goes petless a lot (and always in groups) – going petless gives a 10% damage bonus. But I use a pet when solo fighting a mini-boss or solo questing any group of tough mobs.
For many years your pet could hold all your aggro. Very recently Blizzard nerfed that, so your hunter gets aggro when it does enough damage. But you can “play dead” every 15 seconds to drop all aggro, while the pet stays in combat.
