Hello, I’ve got someone joining the game and want to get generals ideas on what do you believe would be the single easiest spec to reliably complete mythic+ for KSM pugging would be, not going higher than a +15.
Now I don’t wanna hear “evilbadguy it’s just a plus 15 any spec can do it”, listen I main feral Druid so don’t lie to my face, getting into pugs is almost impossible so I want advice on something where he won’t have to face the same issues I had trying to pug KSM.
Despite the people complaining on the forums about parsing at the bottom, it’s still the most played spec in M+. Maybe second. But it’s second to MM hunter. So, either way, hunter is a win.
BM is 100% mobile. You can do your entire rotation on the move. That means you can focus on avoiding mechanics whilst still performing well. And once you’re comfortable with the mechanics and affixes, swap to MM if you desire.
Surv Hunter, which is melee (sorry I just realised I may sound pedantic explaining it’s melee - just trying to be as informative & clear as possible ), is also really good right now. Maybe the best Melee spec.
People do not turn Hunters away.
Just make sure you have a Ferocity pet available as some groups may rely on your to have Blood Lust, even if you’re MM.
Some alternative options though if you just really don’t want to roll Hunter:
Frost Mage
Havoc DH (I advise Ranged over Melee generally though)
Destro Lock (Demo is really good right now too. More popular even. But Demo is peaking higher on the ladder)
Or, as you already have a Feral, have you considered going Balance, or even Healing?
Most people won’t turn down a good Boomie for a +15.
If you want to get into 15 pugs without having done 17s or more (it’s dumb I know) you should be healing. Rsham brings a lot (lust, 12s interrupt, great damage) but they’re a little harder to pick up. But it doesn’t matter if you’re very good, at least you’ll be playing so you can practice and get better.
If you run your own key up to 15, you really can be any spec, just check logs because the way RIO calculates score now is really bad, like there could be no difference between a 500 and 1500 io player, one just ran more keys, but the difference between a 2000 and a 3000 io player is insane.
Honestly, I would not recommend tanking in the pug world. Not to anyone, especially not to a new player. But that is another way to get invites if your score is low.
it can be rough, but i started tanking on my monk recently and have mostly had decent groups. i will say that this works much better if you already know the dungeons, class and spec capabilities of your teammates, etc. i have a lot of healing experience so I’m not starting fresh. your milage will vary if you’re trying to learn the dungeons and the role and a new spec all at the same time.
Look I know that and you know that, anything can clear 15s but we also both know in the pugging world that doesn’t happen so I don’t want his experience to be like mine as feral when I’m not in a guild where you get declined all the time etc… I don’t want to chase someone new away and I figured someone here might know more about the easiest class for a new person to play that’s in the meta right now even if its not the very most OP one but still one that can get invited. I only do mythic+ in an all druid group so I’m out of the loop on this stuff.
It’s historically been the most played spec in general for quite some time.
Since OP’s friend is only wanting to run up to the +15 range, BM will be fine. It’s far from the best, though, and you will feel the burning judgement of playing the ~inferior~ hunter spec. Just starting MM or survival will ultimately be quicker and easier. Rotations are harder, but no need to worry about stats/covenant/legendary.
If you want to DPS, like other’s have said, BDruid, locks, mages, in addition to hunter bring good damage and utility.
On the healer end, Rshaman brings good utility, heals, and even damage to the table. Hpriest is also great and not a terribly difficult spec for beginner healers.
Tanks are in high demand but there’s a reason many people don’t play them. In terms of actual rotation I believe guardian druid is the easiest. Prot pally is also great. But being a tank isn’t easy in general.
In terms of ease, it goes dps > healer >> tank. And then there’s rankings within the specs for ease and usefullness.
BM Hunter is at the bottom of both raid and M+ right now.
Can the spec work in these environments? Yes.
Do the other two specs perform SUBSTANTIALLY better? Yes.
Will you be passed over time and time again for pugs? Yes.
As a day 1 BM hunter…don’t roll BM hunter right now.
Warrior great dungeoneer class. Fury and prot both get quick invites.
Fury is all about rage management, it is a builder spender spec. Always dump your rampage before a big rage generator, never overcap your rage (AKA cast rampage every single GCD that you can).
Prot is all about spamming your thunder clap and shield slam on CD, never let either of those skills ride and you’re golden.
There is nuance to both, but if you can get that stuff down you can do good parses in M+ with warrior.
