What is the best spec to have for raids and m+ current?
Basically just not Affliction.
Between Destro and Demo is your personal choice. They are pretty equal.
Destro is favored slightly at higher level keys. Demo at the lower end.
For raiding Affliction sims ok but proof is in the pudding right?
This last week for Mythic raiding there has been 22.5k Destro locks. Quite a good lead ahead of Demo (8k). Affliction has a pitiful 1k players. It is actually the least played spec in Mythic raiding.
As somebody that’s pioneered a lot of the mythic aff stuff this tier, it’s actually not bad. It’s just not great, and destro is just better on most fights.
If you want to play aff and love aff (like me) it’s completely viable for every mythic boss including dimensius mythic where it has a lot of cool niche damage profiles. It’s mostly dead on average, or slightly below average in most pve content otoh.
I’d suggest everybody just play diabolist destruction now if you don’t care about your spec as much, you literally can just hit chaos bolt over and over even in aoe and it doesn’t matter at all. It’s probably the easiest spec in the game atm.
Also was demonic gateway removed cause i dont see it as a demon spec?
Short and sweet is Destro performs slightly better than Demo, but they’re both close enough that both are fine. Additional reason I recommend destro: way fewer buttons, way harder to screw up the rotation. Literally destro is just conflag for the damage bonus, keep immolate (or wither) up, don’t overcap shards. You don’t have to worry about how many imps you got out, no sweating the CDs of abilities (because largely destro hasn’t got any CDs on their normal abilities outside of conflag), no having to wait for a good window to use your DPS CDs.
Aff isn’t terrible, it genuinely does okay, there’s definitely a lot of worse specs out there. That said, there’s basically always been at least one Shadow Priest spec performing worse than Aff since the beginning of the xpac; there’s also usually at least one Shadow Priest spec performing better than Aff this xpac. Short and sweet is if you love playing some Aff, you probably won’t pull the numbers you would with Destro or Demo, but you’ll do better than tanks/heals, might beat a DPS or two, but you won’t be top.
TL;DR - Destro and Demo are comparable, but Destro is significantly easier to pilot. Aff is a sizable amount behind the other two, but is still middle-ish of the overall pack (and therefore not bad, just not amazing).
If you are doing destro for mythic dungeons. Which hero talent is preferred
Hellcaller. I’m not sure how Diabolist performs, but Hellcaller is basically my default ('cuz I never much cared for the cast on Immolate). I can tell you that Hellcaller performs excellently, and the data shows the sweaty top end of M+ agrees with that.
Remember it’s a talent in the general tree now
if you’re doing anything below like a +14 or +15 you’ll get the most bang for your buck with playing the machine gun chaos bolt build as a diabolist destruction lock. This only works with the 2pc bonus from the new raid though.
You can also just not think and never hit rain of fire as this build (it’s a small loss at like 8+ targets, but you can barely tell).
Demonic Gateway is in your Warlock talent tree.
If you meant Demonic Portal, then yeah, that’s been removed.
Even when Diabolist was the clear DPS winner early in xpac, must still chose Hellcaller for M+ mobility.
Now Diabolist still sims higher around 10s but higher keys… Hellcaller mobility and mass Wither is the practical choice.
