Given the sheer number of pop culture references in WoW, and the progenitors of the franchise being adolescents of the 1980s, it genuinely shocks me that slasher references have been blink and you’ll miss it things like items or guard dialogue.
Personally I think the headless horseman is pretty old hat by today’s standards and we could have multiple world bosses stalking the world based on serial numbers filed off slasher classics.
Perhaps the burned Kaldorei criminal Faeldric Englund stalks the dreams of northern Kalimdor. The insatiable murderer Meyers Carpenter lurks at night in Elwyn stabbing the unsupecting.
And I guess you just do the Evil Dead for the Forsaken with you having to get the hero Ashley Cambell and their blade arm to intervene as that’s Lovecraft so I’m pretty sure it’s public domain.
But what do you think? What slasher would you have terrorize Azeroth and what part?

A creepy clown from the traveling Darkmoon faire.

Yep. Lovecraft’s been dead for over 70 years, so his works are definitely public domain. On that note, it’ll be four more years until Conan the Barbarian becomes public domain.

A big Undead dude in a fantasy mask that just happens to resemble a hockey mask for some reason, would be pretty fitting imo.

Mechagnomes remind me of Chucky + Terminator
As far as creepy stuff….
Being a Blood Elf in the Horde can sometimes feels like that Twilight Zone Episode : Eye of the Beholder …. where everyone is ugly except the star, so that makes ugliness the normal.
Came to say exactly this, a spoof of Jason but it’s an abom in a hockey mask.

We actually had quite a few ‘slashers’ in WoW history, but they were on a grander scope than most of classic movie villains.
I genuinely wish the Headless Horseman got more screentime, but you also have the Dark Riders.
Then you have the San’layn and basically all of Karazhan.

That’s perfect. Shame it’s not in WoW proper that’d be a fun seasonal world boss. And of course you’d have a small chance to get the hockey mask itself from defeating him.

Still heartbroken over HotS being put into maintenance mode… all these years later.
