Hi, i’m looking for a new server and i’m not sure what the best ones are for better latency. I’m on Stormrage and i get like 13fps and that’s bad even on low settings. So, i’m looking for a new server to call home.
Framerates aren’t dependent on latency. Almost all NA servers see roughly the same latency.
On the east coast I would suggest a realm in the Chicago Datacenter which Stormrage is.
Not really. To LA realms I get 15 to 20 ms but to Chicago it’s 65 to 80 ms.
Your best bet is to VPN to EU and connect to one of the Oceanic servers.
I’m in Ohio and I get 24-30, regardless of LA or Chicago.
But, it still doesn’t have much to do with the OP’s framerate issue. Hehe
It doesn’t really matter, just don’t go with Oceanic. Although if you end up in an OCE group, you’re still hosed either way.
I’m 20 miles from Blizzard’s Irvine Campus. So that and how far I am from Chicago explains mine.
But I agree latency isn’t the OP’s issue. I still get good FPS when I occasional play on EU realms at 250ms.
I’m in Iowa - on Stormrage, currently in Ironforge with 60fps, (34/34 ms) however, there are some days I go to Emerald Dream - let’s use the Superbloom as an example and man, sometimes I get like 4 fps if I’m lucky, but later on that same day I’m back up to 45+ and I have no idea why, same amount of people, graphics etc.
If you’re getting 13fps then that’s a whole different kettle of fish when compared to latency. That would be unplayable for anyone.
Now if it’s 13 ping / latency than that’s friggen awesome so there’s no need to be swapping realms.
Did you mean to say fps? Cause that’s gonna be your hardware my friend, not the server.
If you’ve got rubber banding, I’d say your latency… not low framerate.
