I think goblins, or a Troll hunter. I imagine the trolls in Stranglethorn either get chum chummy with the gorillas and monkeys, or they become chum chummy because of the gorillas and monkeys.

They had strong armor when the pet stats mattered. So they were widely used by all. Im talking gorillas not the small monkey ones. Bears as well.

In MOP, they re-designed Deadmines with monkeys doing the mining with goblin supervision.

Goblin seems like a good fit. Monkey pets seem to be on the smaller side, so a smaller character would look better, to me.

I forget the name of the set, but it looks like something a jungle adventurer would wear. That would be an excellent mog to pair with monkeys. I forget the requirements for it.

tbf I understand the suspicion. almost every thread here is just bait or a troll thread disguised as a discussion.

Orc or Maghar have some nice pet bonuses with their passive racial, so I would guess they would be the “best” from a monkey/ape optimization strategy… but lore wise I don’t think Draenor has any primates on it.

TBF monkeys and apes only really live in Stranglethorn, Ungoro, Zandalar, and a couple other places. They are always jungle types of environments.

The only race that really exclusively lives in those types of zones are Trolls (Jungle and Zandalari). There’s no Ape or monkey loa that I can think of off-hand though (but they do have ghost-apes north of the capital city). Goblins live in stranglethorn and Kezan, but don’t really do much with them that I can think of either.

  • The human gives your hunter a Traveling Carnival Owner vibe

  • As a dwarf makes them feel like a real buddy comedy

  • Gnomes - Can Gnomes be hunters? Don’t do this

  • Night Elves - This is the hunter version of the Witcher. The Nelf should talk to the monkey as Geraldt talks to Roach

  • Velfs - This will look like Link with a monkey. Don’t.

  • Kul Tiran - Pirate theme. Very cool

  • Orcs - I don’t know about this one. I get no feeling from it

  • Troll - Love this. They seem like friends, maybe

  • zTroll - this is post-modern magical realism. When does the heroic knight have a slapstick banana throwing sidekick?

  • Tauren - This is adorable

  • Nightborne - This feels like they kidnapped the money. I don’t like this.

  • Goblins - Same as human

  • Undead - don’t, unless the money is undead

  • Pandas - See dwarf. Love this.
