Is taking the armor crafting professions the way to go for BiS crafted items that have been added to the raids? I know PvP engineering is great too. I chose Alchemy on a whim and am wondering if its a bad choice.
Alchemy is solid for its access to various potions. I consider it as valuable as Engineering. The only difference though is that you have to have Engineering to use various useful Engineering items while anyone can use potions.
I think it’s a good choice unless you are a PvPer then you might want to take Engineering for the bombs and various trinkets that are very valuable in PvP. Potions are too, but again, anyone can use those and can buy them off the AH whereas Engineering bombs you cannot. (for some)
My main is an Engineer and one of my alts is an Alchemist and I funnel FAPs, Speed/Swim pots/resistance pots… etc etc… to my main.
If I only plan to play 1 toon, I usually go herb/alch. But I got multiple this time, so I’m maining LW/Skinning.
Alchemy is a solid choice. Potions/flasks/transmutes. The armor crafting professions are good for certain gear, but it’s not the end of the world if you don’t have that gear. There’s good alternatives. I wouldn’t worry about it.
I prefer alch/engi on all my toons
