Any recommendations?
I am having a lot of trouble finding parts I want (somehow. still) and I need an upgrade SOON for work purposes. So idk if building my own is in the cards right now.

I brought this one…I added a 2TB SSD drive and bumped the memory up too 32 Gig…runs WoW at 140 frame rates all the time…of course I have a new monitor to go with it too that is 144 mhz…www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09DHP9M9G/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1
any brick & mortar store nearby?
I have a Best Buy. I think that’s it. Fry’s Electronics is gone.
ah ok. you said SOON so fastest option is to visit that best buy and see what they have
just don’t get ones with funky cases like alienwares because it’s hard to upgrade parts
How soon is soon? Nothing you get from Best Buy will be worth what they charge. A gaming desktop shouldn’t be something you shop for for an hour or so at the closest store.
If you don’t like amazon try Newegg…they have some great deals and good prices…
Next several months ideally. My PC is long in the tooth. Still gets the job done but it’s nearly a decade old.
I’m the situation where my current setup is not about to die but so much of it bottlenecks new components that I need to move into an all new rig.
Oh ok, if you have that long, then definitely check out cyberpowerpc. You can customize the build however you want, they assemble and ship it, shouldn’t take more than a month at most. In my experience they don’t have any bloatware or extra crap like you would get with a store bought pre-built. Since they’re a vendor they have access to parts you won’t be able to really get on your own. I got a 3060 for msrp at the height of the cryptocringe stuff from them with my pc.
I have a Cyberpowerpc…I love it…and your right no bloatware at all on it unlike what you get from Bestbuy or other places…and their prices are really good too.
yeah a few months is plenty of time.
looks like quite a few of us have positive experiences with cyberpowerpc so that’s a good place to start
also prices are going down so building it yourself can save you a few $
If you don’t have the technical knowledge to build a computer yourself look into custom build sites like cyberpower PC. You select the base model and then you select all the components you want in your computer you can literally customize it to your liking. You can select your processor, motherboard, CPU Cooler etc etc
You customize it. Then they build it and send it to you. You can even customize the RGB Lighting on the inside.
As for computer parts I did my own build and bought all the components on Amazon
I saw you needed your computer for work so I thought I would mention The Ryzen 9 5900x it’s like $360 on Amazon at the moment. Not bad for a 12 core CPU
although i’m a big AMD fan, i can’t recommend buying them right now because their new stuff will come by the end of the year. The current stuff will drop in price, or maybe the new stuff will be priced well.
Im not a fan of either. I simply buy who has the best bang for your buck. ATM that is AMD. But if you think there will be a night and day difference between 5000 series and 7000 you are kidding your self.
You have to remember there are Benchmark scores on paper which are very misleading because the numbers make the differences between CPUs seem bigger then they actually are. Real world use tells a very differant story. So yeah the Ryzen 9 7900x rendering a premiere may save you 30 seconds or so rendering a file over the Ryzen 9 5900x just for an example.
Thats hardly a reason to tell someone not to buy it. Especially when its $360 atm. The 7900x will be $600+ guaranteed. Not to mention the CRAZY price of DDR5 atm. It will be another 2years+ before DDR5 is Optimized and mainstreamed across all applications. Just being real with you my man. Dont make issues like this out to be bigger than they actually are. Benchmark numbers make the Gap seem bigger
With that said the 5900x will be a great CPU for the next few years for work loads regardless. The OPs primary faction is work it seems. As for gaming? Soon Ryzen may very well drops a 5900x 3D which will also be AM4. Op can resell the 5900x and buy that later. AM4 is not TRULY dead yet
