What kinda pet would be best in PvP?
I use birds of prey. Faster movement + dispel movement penalties + auto slow on enemies.
Cunning due to the anti-root/snare and the 8% movement speed
if you’re not in melee and Eagle is on CD you’re basically dead so those give you the tools to prevent that happening
Master’s Call macro:
#showtooltip Master’s Call
/target (name)
/cast Master’s Call
can set that to yourself or a partner you’re running with (preferably a healer)
You’ll want a cunning pet for master’s call as Moroses mentioned. As far as pet abilities generally you want one with MS (hyena, raptor or rodent), unless you are doing arenas with someone who already has one.
A slow pet is OK, but also redundant. We have multiple ways already to slow our target, having a pet with one just saving a global every once in a while. Gaining MS, assuming your arena comp doesn’t have one already, is much more valuable.
bat has some useful ability i think
There is a video on this subject on youtube titled “what is the best hunter pet” that should help.
Bat just has a self dispel, not useless but also not super valuable or anything.
Also bats are ferocity, you definitely want a cunning pet for PvP.
for arena? mortal strike pet unless you’re with a warrior.
and cunning so you have master’s call.
raptor ticks both of those boxes, however you can take it further and tame an undead raptor which will be immune to a lot more types of cc than the living ones.
to tame that you need to be undead or pick up a special training tome; it dropped for me in plaguefall.
Hyena or Maw Rat. It gives mortal strike, and pet freedom.
Edit:
Wait, this is a thing? If a hunter is undead upon taming, it actually keeps the benefits of being undead into the hunter taming situation? Which means undead raptors and such cannot be feared by normal means but can be shackled? Holy crap.
check the video i posted, he runs it down.
I believe you, I’m just saying that’s shocking. It’s very interesting though.
