What’s the best path for a 200ilvl prot war these days?
I haven’t kept up with all the new features at all and I’m kinda lost on what to do.
What content can I actually do at 200 ILVL and get upgrades from without wasting time with minor upgrades?
Run Naxx Full clears as a tank. Get to Ilvl 213, then head over to Ulduar.
If you don’t mind using your lockout and can find others in the same boat, you could probably do ToGC 10 Normal, also.
If funds allow it, make sure to chant up and gem up.
Lots and lots of BoE’s on AH from Naxx and Ulduar.
225’s are dirt cheap as they are now dropping in dungeons. 232’s crated gear is likely under 2k on all bigger servers.
~4k gs prot war is enough to run Beta dungeons. Tanks are always in demand. You will still get invited. Beta, honestly, are easier than Alpha outside of few very specific painpoints/enemy abilities. Beta dungeons reward conquestr and 225 gear +T8 tier. And you get special currency to buy 239/245 gear with. Takes some time to farm though.
If you know your class/spec well, you will absolutely rock. Prot warrs are poggers for dungeons.
If you see a Naxx run, join it. It’s 213/226 gear. Takes prob about an hour.
Get some gear. Once you mostly 225, you can probably find a ToC10 NORMAL run with 232 gear in it.
(If you wanna boost GS by a bit, get PvP 213 gear at the vendor in Underbelly for like 40k honor for full 5/5 set)
Yes, Ulduar had some nice crafted items and BoE’s, particularly Northern Barrier for a 232 shield. Funds willing, I’d always start there before anything.
Bruh just slide your CC and get BoEs its the Classic way.
Do beta dungeons, as they award Naxx and Ulduar 10m gear. Getting into groups as a prot warrior should be easy even at your ilvl.
That’s assuming you aren’t kicked for not being 5K+
Do not listen to the people saying “AH has dirt cheap items”.
I just went to one of these full servers and calculated the cost ignoring ToC items.
24.5k gold before gems and enchants for a fresh 80. There were no items that were a “couple hundred” an ilvl 200 tank would pick up. Crafted boots and belt are 4k together, Northern Barrier was 7k, back slot BoE from Ulduar was 5500. Just go get the Ahune cloak which is ilvl 232 at the moment, just do it the 5 times with your group and get the cloak. Even 200ilvl shoulders was 3k on Pagle.
The best thing to do at the moment would daily CoS heroic, Ahune cloak, do your daily heroic and try to farm out emblems. You can get a 232 neck for 19 Emblems of Conquest, hands for 28 Emblems of Conquest, legs for 39 Emblems of Conquest. Look to get boots and belt crafted (dont buy outright). Only thing I would buy is Northern Barrier and I would wait to see if the price comes down some more. Its about the same price across all servers 6-7k. It would last well into ICC, at the very least you would replace it with ToC 25m shield or ICC 10m Neverending Winter from Lootship.
This isnt going to be the best gear but its at least something.
Feels like naxx runs completely dried up since ToC launched. I looked for a naxx group all Friday and Saturday, but I’ve only seen 1 group advertise for it. The leader gave up after only 5 people showed up.
