Please refer to the opening cinematic of vanilla
Rogue - Human
Warrior - Human
Mage - Human
Priest- Human
Warlock - Human
Paladin - Human
Druid - Night Elf
Hunter - Night Elf
Shaman - LOL who plays shaman?
Horde are filthy imposters and only good for honor points. Gnomes and dwarves are creepy little height challenged humans/humanoids that we only tolerate because blizzard insisted they needed to be in the game.
Alliance: Paladin, Priest, Mage, Warrior
Horde: Shaman, Druid, Warlock, Rogue
Neutral: Hunter
These classes feel to fit alliance or horde for me personally. Especially when you compare them side my side. Druid/shaman are more nature based, and paladin/priest is more light based as an example. They fit alliance/horde for these. 8 races and 9 classes leaves one class out, for me that’s hunters.
Troll Shaman
Tauren Druid
Orc Warlock
Undead Rogue
Dwarf Paladin
Night Elf Priest
Gnome Mage
Human Warrior
These to me feel like the best authentic race/class combo based off of lore. I’d highly go dwarf priest of you want to pvp however. Human paladin, night elf warrior. Night elf priest racials are not that great, but lore they make the most sense.
Dwarf Warriors are the prime icon. We all know dwarves are 33% Beer, 33% Beard and 33% Axe. 1% all the other stuff that doesn’t matter as much.
Human Paladin
Night Elf Druid
Dwarf Hunter
Gnome Mage
Orc Warrior
Troll Hunter
Undead Warlock
Tauren Shaman
Screw rogues.
I’d say… and without repeats…
Human - Paladin (Paladins almost intrinsically tied with Humans)
Dwarf - Hunter (cinematic)
Gnome - Mage (class most associated with Gnomes in lore)
Night Elf - Druid (cinematic)
Orc - Warrior (They’re the Proud Warrior Race Guys, come on, +cinematic)
Troll - Priest (Every Troll tribe is centered around their priests and their Loa, with Troll hero classes strongly associated with Priests like Shadow Hunters or just ordinary Witch Doctors)
Tauren - Shaman (They were more strongly associated with Shamans in WC3)
Undead - Rogue/Warlock (Rogue’s are strongly associated with Undead by popular culture but Warlocks because cinematic)
Found the salty Eggplant Elf that Dwarves completely blow Night Elves out of the water for Priests, and basically any PvP with Stoneform.
Also splitting them up based on Faction is neat…
Alliance: Paladin, Priest, Mage
Horde: Shaman, Warlock, Druid
Neutral: Warrior, Hunter, Rogue
Come to think of it you wouldn’t really be remiss to have Mages be Alliance only and Warlocks be Horde only alongside Paladins and Shaman.
Hmm, makes me wonder how things would have turned out and have been balanced had Mages and Warlocks been faction counterparts. Not that I’m saying they should ever have been, I love the weirdness of the Darkspear Trolls apparently being proficient in Arcane studies.
Do I go with WC3 units, Lore characters, famous players? First that comes to mind for each.
Druid: Night Elf
Hunter: Dwarf (Mortar Combat!)
Mage: Troll
Paladin: Human
Priest: Night Elf
Rogue: Human
Shaman: Orc
Warrior: Tauren
Wartlock: Forsaken
I’d go with:
Human Paladin (they’re just simply iconic and their racials are probably the best)
Dwarf Priest (Fear Ward is pretty good, plus the other priest races have cooler classes)
Night Elf Druid
Gnome Mage
Orc Warrior (the Horde counterpart to the Human Paladin, nothing screams Horde more than a badass plate-clad orc warrior smashing skulls up with a big-as-hell two-handed axe)
Undead Rogue (the most iconic rogues out there, this race/class combo can make the edgiest rogue you could ever ask for and I love it)
Tauren Hunter
Troll Shaman (you could prob switch the classes for Tauren and Troll, I’m just biased because my main is a Troll Shaman and I love him)
That leaves Warlock left, and go with whatever you want as long as it’s either a human female, an orc female, or an undead of any gender. Why specifically those race/gender choices? I don’t know why, those just seem like the coolest for a warlock to me.
I just realized that this is the only point in the game’s history that classes outnumbered races. Even in Legion there were 12 classes and 13 races. Not making any sort of statement here, just making an observation.
I’m pretty sure Runemaster(?), Necromancer, and Bard were all considered at one point. Along with Rogues and Hunters with “bucklers” and Warlocks in leather.
Threepwood’s law:
Anything that can be a shaman, should be a shaman
Human: definitely Paladin
Dwarf: Hunter (trailer)
Night Elf: Druid (trailer)
Gnome: Maybe rogue but nothing really iconic
Orc: Warrior
Troll: Hunter or rogue, but like gnomes it’s not really iconic. In Warcraft they were Shadow Hunters.
Tauren: Shaman (trailer)
Forsaken: Rogue (Deadstalkers, elite assassins)
Everyone should abide by this law
i cant argue with that lol
Judging off of lore and Warcraft RTS games:
Warrior: Dwarves and Orcs (Mountain Kings and Orcs in general)
Paladin: Human (duh)
Mage: Humans and Undead (Archmage and Lich)
Priest: Night Elf (Priestess of the Moon, not translated too well to WoW) Human (Holy and Disc) Undead (Shadow)
Druid: Night Elf (duh)
Shaman: All 3 races
Hunter: Dwarf, Night Elf, Orc (Dwarven riflemen, Night Elf archers and huntresses, Orc beastmasters)
Warlock: Orc and Undead (Gul’dan and the Shadow Council, Undead also fit Warlocks to a T)
Rogue: Night Elf, Troll, and Undead(The 3 “shadowy” races where striking from the shadows makes sense. Demon Hunter kind of fits Nelf rogue)
Icwatudidthar
night elf warrior, druid and priest
Night elf druid
Tauren shaman
Orc warlock
troll hunter
forsaken priest is probably the most iconic for it even though necromancer would of been better but is not a class.
Dwarf warrior
human paladin
gnome idk maybe mage
Night Elf Druid
Human Paladin
Dwarf Hunter
Gnome Mage
Undead Rogue
Orc Warlock
Tauren Shaman
This is the accurate association, but that leaves Priest and Warrior for Troll. Maybe Warrior? I don’t really feel like there’s an iconic class for Trolls.
Ironically, the Original cinematic doesn’t depict two classes and two races; Paladin and Rogue, and Gnome and Troll.
But Humans are pretty much THE Iconic Paladins, and based on the Cinematic I can’t see Gnomes or Trolls being anything other than Rogues.
Human: Paladin. No question.
Night Elf: Druid.
Dwarf: Warrior.
Gnome: Mage.
Orc: Warrior.
Tauren: Shaman
Troll: Hunter
Undead: Rogue (maybe a warlock or priest lore-wise, but UD rogues were the stuff of nightmares in Vanilla)
