In your opinion which of the caster classes is the best in WoW. Also which race and faction has is the best for said caster class.

While as Boomkin I am in the top 3 DPS in my guild, I loathe it. I only play it because they tell me to, if I had my way I go feral all the way.

I guess its subjective what you mean by best though, highest dps doesn’t always equate to being fun! Like Demon Hunters do crazy damage, but their rotation bores the crap out of me. In my guild there’s a Demonology Lock ahead of me and the top damage goes to a Fury warrior.

Mage is most dynamic

Lock always has at least one solid spec, slow sluggish class however

Boomkin has the best aesthetic in game, but still feels clunky.

Ele sham is a lightning form of arcane mage, with its simplicity being its best and worst component

Shadowpriest was historically a fun spec. Void form is more a nuisance than a boon. I wish it were a lvl 100 talent that made void form permanent, rather than trying to smash all abilities in time before void form fades.

As for race.

A:Dwarf female,Night Elf
H:Orc female,troll

Boomkin for sure, but I’m 100% bias. It’s a little clunky but there’s always something to do so very little down time.

edit* forgot the races! Any race has their strengths. Maybe Zandalari for those sweet racials? I personally prefer Tauren as the race best fits the class for Horde.

Boomkin hands down.

Maintaining multiple dots across multiple targets is an absolute chore. A challenge? Sure, especially when all the mobs are stacked on top of one another and you have to struggle to select the correct one. But that’s not a fun challenge for me.

My options then are loosely limited to mage (all), warlock (demonology), and hunter (marksmanship, beast mastery)- which is ranged but can’t be considered a caster, mind you.

My vote is for mage.

As for race, I mean, what’s important to you? PvE racial kit? PvP? Aesthetic/animations? Lore?

I would say zandalari for look and feel or undead for compromise between image and actually serviceable racial abilities.

“Best” as in most fun? Demo lock, followed closely by balance druid imo.

I only have an Arcane Mage and Affliction Lock at max level, and 7 out of my other 9 max levels are melee. If we’re talking best dps then my Arcane Mage blows away my Affliction Lock. Also noticed that while leveling my Arcane Mage was stronger then my Elemental Shammy, Balance Druid and my Lock was. Arcane is really easy to play also.

My two favorite caster classes are the Destruction Warlock and Frost Mage.
I seem to have the most fun paying these classes.

Blood Elf,Nightborne,Human and Void Elf are my favorite races for the Warlock and Mage class.

probably troll elemental shaman.

Elemental is crazy good right now, and berserking is really good yet. (i’m actually pretty sure ele sims the highest right now, either it or balance druid)

Orc racial is also solid.

Balance Druid is the only caster class I have been able to stick with. I’ll admit, Glyph of Stars helped me like it 1000% better.

Night Elf, for RP/Lore reasons.

As a Caster class? Balance Druid (with Glyph of Stars), Affliction Warlock, Shadow Priest, and Arcane Mage. Not sure about Shaman…never tried one.

Warlock is pretty fun. 3 distinct specs with 3 distinct playstyles. Demo is tons of fun this xpac.

It waddles so slow though. Burning Rush is a piece of @#$& talent and I’ll never take it.

Mage is alright, I just hated casting a weak filler waiting for my rng procs before I can start actually playing the spec.

Boomkin is fun too. Spells look and sound good, plus you’re a Druid which has great QoL.
