Something blizzard might want to check out is an item called Cobalt Crusher. This is probably the best well kept secret for druids on most private servers. Its level 29 mace that has a +5 frost damage modifier. This item incorrectly applies 30 dps for cat and bear forms. This with a weight stone makes it completely broken and lets you top rogues and warriors.
They aren’t changing anything.
Its a bug. Druid weapons are supposed to be stat sticks.
Chances are this is a bug on pservers that resulted from incorrect stat weighting and will not be an issue in classic.
And weightstones are definitely an artifact of pservers, same as +damage enchants.
They didn’t work in Vanilla, if I remember correctly.
Maybe, maybe not. There’s a lot of weird mechanics that I bet were never fully tested in vanilla. For example the extremely rare Runeblade of Baron Rivendare actually breaks an invisibility potion when the regeneration ticks.
Some weapon effects do work in druid forms. I’ve never heard anyone mention the +elemental damage working from live but, if it does, it may actually bring a new meta for feral druids that doesn’t involve MCP farming.
Don’t trust pservers for this kind of information. Even if it’s a “best kept secret” there, who knows how it will be applied in Classic and if Blizzard considers it working as intended or not.
The item was changed later in WoW but magical melee damage has a history of being overpowered. There was a special wolf when tamed actually did shadow damage on melee hits. Blizzard nerfed this because it allowed them to ignore armor.
This was never a thing in vanilla, and likely a side effect of private server shenanigans. Same thing with weight stones adding flat damage or +X damage enchants. They did not work in vanilla.
Tell that to the Manual Crowd Pummeller.
The weightstones were probably patched at one point but such a low level item not geared towards druids would probably never have been tested.
That cat with the MCP is power-shifting so fast it’ll never hear a full, unbroken sentence.

Perhaps you were never introduced to the MCP’s? Granted we have to farm them up and have a loot stash ready for use, but honestly it’s worth it. 50% increased attack speed for 90 seconds while in kitty form? Yes please!

I’m still waiting to see what happens with the druid level 40 head piece that allows for power shifting.
I would love to play a feral druid but when I get fully geared, I want my toon to be decked out in full epics. Not a level 40 head piece and a level 29 weapon. Thats just ridiculous. Blizz should totally have more epic drops for feral druids. And more tier pieces for all specs and classes.

Several rare weapons with proc effects (notably Thunderfury) were bugged in vanilla with some Paladin seals. Seal of Righteousness (and Seal of Fury, before it was removed) I believe worked internally as two weapon swings, giving some weapons twice the chances to proc. The Thunderfury bug wasn’t patched out until TBC.
