"best-in-slots" weapon loot sorting

Place “best-in-slots” weapon on the holy paladin loot table. It is a great weapon for holy paladin.

Blizzard doesn’t do “best-in-slot”. That’s an entirely artificial player-made label.

Yes they do. It is an in game weapon dropped by Mug’Zee in the Undermine raid.

BIS is an arbitrary label by players. If you mean a specific weapon, you’re better off naming it rather than hoping Blizzard knows what you mean.

Also, the developers’ deliberate choices about loot and gear design is never a bug, so if you actually want the devs to see your request, you’ll need to post in General Discussion.

I did name the specific weapon. It is called “Best-in-slots” which is why it is inside quotation marks.

Thank you for your recommendation. I will try to move this on Gen Disc.

It is on the loot table for Holy Paladin.

At least according to WoWhead.

It is not.

WoWhead, you let me down.

It does that sometimes :crying_cat_face:
But yeah it not being on hpal loot table sounds like a bug. Can loot spec to ret just for that boss as a workaround for it, though then you won’t be able to roll on the gallagio bottle service. Also would be problematic with vault.

I wonder if it’s because the str/agil version is the “default” state of the weapon and it’s unable to drop as the int variety. Wilder things have happened heh.

It’s on resto/elemental shaman as well as balance/resto druid drop tables. Not on priest, mage, or warlock, but I don’t think they can use 2h maces?

Its confirmed then.

Blizzard hates Holy Paladin.

I think Jeysca’s theory is the correct one. It drops as the melee DPS version and only for melee DPS specs.

You’ll see the drop if you switch loot spec to ret for this boss.

100% sure this is a bug, as the other healers who can wield 2H maces have it available. I’m also pretty sure the weapon drops as the intellect version if the loot spec in question is a caster spec of any type.

EDIT: Wowhead comments seem to disagree with my second assertion. I would consider it either a bug or lazy oversight if the caster specs don’t have the caster version drop by default, but the drop data lists no source for that version and there is a resto druid report of it presenting the melee version in their vault. Still, any version of it at all should be available to Holy paladins.

Maybe since shield of the righteous requires having a shield equipped to use? I usually see holy paladins complain when they get a 2h drop for this reason. I guess some may choose not to use the ability, though.

It drops for Elemental shaman

Similar reasoning, although two-handed mace is terrible for Enhancement. And most Elementalists prefer one-hand plus caster shield.

It really is optimized for Druid or Paladin (Ret + Holy). Although a lot of Holy Pals also like 1H + caster shield.

It’s not on enhancement’s loot table, so I’m not seeing the reasoning as the same

Yeah, because it’s terrible for Enh. So, disregard that sleep-deprived reasoning.

Not that its just terrible, but it makes core rotational abilities unusable. Stormstrike requires a one handed weapon and lava lash requires an offhand weapon, so both of those are unusuable with a 2hander. Shield of the righteous as a comparison isn’t really a core holy ability any more than shield block is for arms warrior.
