Hi All, just looking to see what you guys think is the best hunter spec and rotation

Survival PVP(arenas) is very strong can 1v2 - PVE is ok - WPVP is no.

MM WPVP is very strong - PVE is good - PVP(arenas) based on your partner but usually very weak.

BM - PVP ( arenas ) better than MM but worse than Survival - WPVP meh - PVE great but lower dps than MM usually.
This is from my own experience and knowledge. If there are any hunters in rated arenas above 2000 - 75% of them if not more are Survival hunters… BM is 20% and MM is like 5% or less…
This is because MM is very hard spec and needs different play style, long cast times and your main damage rapid fire or aimed shot can be absorbed by anyone who sees you standing still more than 2 secs…
This is why MM is very strong in WPVP, when there is battle you can deal tons of damage as you have great range and most importantly no one focuses you,as your team taunts enemy and lets you deal damage. Your double tap+Aimed shot + primary stat buffs(equip) can hit up to 200K damage or more based on gear and this 200K damage happens just in 3 secs of aimed shot cast…
BM is very fun because pets. If you play vulpera for example your pets are bigger than you, so basically you can hide behind them and give any range player hard time targeting you… also your pets chase target so hiding behind objectives won’t help them as they do it for MM hunter.
Survival is half melee half range warrior type spec, you have hook and tons of slows for anyone who wants to escape… you also have some abilities from BM and MM. Survival is best spec for PVP arenas, but it is on you what you like to play.
There are guides outside and you can check them. If you want to play MM I will write this here check Matasso TV this guy is only guide for MM and is good at it. For BM and Survival you will find lots of guides. I personally messed up my arena % by playing with low gear and a weak spec like MM and later realized MM is strong pick for WPVP/PVE .
Advice,do not enter Rated Arenas until you get geared up 455+ and find a partner who you feel comfortable to play with… This is all just from my experience, I am pretty new to the game as well but just wrote it as you asked.
Depends on what your trying to do.
For raiding and mythic plus, BM is THE best hunter spec. There is no way around that. It has low skill floor mid tier skill ceiling, benefits heavily for the ability to move at all times and still do max dps.
However, the rotation is really dull for bm, at least for me. Can get a weakaura that basically plays the class for you by telling you when to optimally press barbed shot (its not accurate all the time because it can’t equate for everything, but 90% accurate i’d say).
I’d flat out say that MM is not worth even touching. Spec needs a full reverts to previous iterations. Aimed shot cast is so long it’ll put you to sleep. Hunters mark on the GCD make you feel bad about target switching and thats about it. Going into shadowlands doesn’t look like it’ll be much better, damage looks high but its essentially the same spec so i expect it to feel like crap still, though it might relatively better compared to bfa.
Survival. Its melee and doesn’t do anything outstanding in raid to justify bringing it. It has the highest skill ceiling of all hunter specs, though its raid spec is kinda dull sometimes as well, but depends on your available gear. in its current sate i’d say its decent. Can only be good at one thing at a given time however, like either you go single target or you go aoe.
For Arena or pvp, Survival dumpsters the other specs. I think the pvp spec for survival is the best rotation hunter has to offer by a mile and in pvp combat it has access to a metric ton of options. BM in arena suffers from season 1 pvp nerfs and is basically in the dumpster, the level of play required to make it work is insane for the reward it gives. MM is the similar but has slightly more damage then bm instead of utlity so its worse overall.
Tl;dr, BM pve, survival pvp.
