Thinking about the next year of waiting I realized I’ve never tried ‘healing’ in the 8 years.
I remember some topics vaguely so sorry for asking again. I read that priests are good?, but…
I hear THE BEST healer is HOLY PRIEST.
That’s what I’ve heard.

Monk, well i don’t know, but I love healing as a monk! I can just keep keep mists going around the group, and if people are in massive danger I just hold up the orb! I can’t remember the ability but its the one that shoots out tons of projectiles to heal allies.
They work different.
Reactive? HPal, Holy Priest.
Preventive? Druids. Disc Priests.
Mix of both? Monks, resto shammies.
You should worry about thinkgs like: if you want utility, mobility, a cool off spec.

shaman are my favorite since they have hero.
monks not bad exactly, it’s just every other healer is better.
ultimately unless you’re trying to push very high end content, you should be fine to play whichever healer you want.
isn’t it obvious? the new class/race that i can’t memorize it’s name! will be best healer

Really hoping that Preservation will be a fun and useful healer.
Holy and resto shaman.
I like how resto plays more, personally. One of the only healers I can tolerate playing.
Shaman are super useful but harder to contribute as much as you can to the group. I wholeheartedly recommend holy priest, you can’t prevent as much damage as some of the others, but you can prepare for it and react quickly to save everyone! 
Unfortunately, Discipline Priest and Mistweaver are very weak in the dungeons compared to the other four healing specs. Resto druid is also an option but the optimal dps seems to be catweaving necro, keep this in mind. Holy Priest, it’s much easier to do damage and heal everyone.

By pure numbers, probably holy priest. You should worry more about playstyle and what you prefer aesthetic and utility wise than whatever’s fotm
Some healers require being a lot more aggressive than others so if you’re not into being a dps healer some specs won’t feel fun

Honestly all healers are completely fine.
They all have their pros and cons.
First question I guess is do you want to be in melee or ranged and then think about off specs that you might like too.

Priests are good but if you ever want to dabble in dps you need to ask yourself if you’d enjoy Shadow. Not everyone does so if you arent healing and you dont care for Shadow’s playstyle you might be a bit limited.
Monk is great because it has both a dps and a tank spec as well as the healer. Druid likewise and Shaman is always a fun healer. I dont know a lot about Paladin healing but the dps side of it is fun.
I think Priest healing is so strong because it is so limited, personally. But it rather depends on what content you want to do when you hit cap. As fond as I am of Mistweaver I dont think it does as well in M+ at the moment. Not sure how it does in raiding.
In PvP holy priests are the best at everything and the best healer for nearly every comp. Holy paladins and resto druids are okay too but mostly only in 3s and 2s respectively (holy priest is not only good in both, it’s actually the best in both). Blizzard seemed to realize hpriest was OP so they gave it an itty bitty baby nerf that did nothing to change the meta, and I guess that crumb of nerfs is all we’re getting

Just really depends on what content you like to do more of. Holy priests are pretty good at raid and m+. Shamans are okayish on some fights in raid and are really good at m+. Resto druids are the best hps in raid and are okay in m+. Never played mistweaver or holy paladin. But to me they are probably the hardest heal spec to be good at and I applaud any who plays those specs well :<
We’ll I’ve been a holy priest since I joined the game so this is and will always be my bias even if I’m playing the trash healer in an expansion lol.
Aside from being the best healer, blood DK is also one of the better DPS as well!
