This topic ultimately will come down to opinion and supposition. But, in your opinion what is the best healing class, and why? Defend your stance! I want to know what people in GD think (or play.)
Hpal

But, why? Why?? I must know.
Their AoE heals seem so lacking IMO - but for pocket heals/tank heals they seem great. What makes them best to you?
Resto Shaman as the overall best, but Holy Paladins and Disc Priests are also incredibly strong right now.
Holy Priest
because I enjoy playing it
What do you enjoy playing?
Every healer fills some niche in being the best at some aspect except for mw/rdruid.
MW monk and R Druid.
But feels like âeveryoneâ is druid RN and No One will take a MW to anything.
MW has the most lackluster toolkit in game and no one wants them for higher keys or for heroic/mythic raiding when the other healer classes to it better on less mana.
Holy Paladin. Particularly Venthyr Holy Paladin.
Huge AoE heals, large sustained healing and damage, super durable and strong. With that said all healers are awesome and deserve all the love <3
Strong Single Target and Burst Healing. Good utility and damage.
AoE healing is a weakness if people arenât clumped up, but the only situation where thatâs a huge liability is Mythic Raiding and youâve got Disc Priests and Resto Shamans to cover that weakness.
Disc Priests will be eternally good due to how absorbs work, plus they bring PI which is a huge burst cooldown, albeit one that scales with the effectiveness of the DPS, not the Priest.
Resto Shamans are just overtuned and provide giga amounts of throughput and super strong cooldowns.
Go check Sun King logs then get back to me on MWâs niche, thanks.
Not that itâs a particularly strong niche to have outside of those occasional fights.
To answer OPâs question, resto shaman. They have such strong throughput, amazing sustain, CDs, survivability, utilityâŚitâs just the complete package, really.
I vote resto druid, not because it has the best performance, but because its heals are so fluid and proactive. I love my leafy dude! Healing on him is so much fun. The only thing that could make me love druids more is if they could be gnomes - blizz would make $100 from me through race changes.
That is literally The Only Fight in CN that they will beat out the other healers. Did it, thank you. Was pretty chuffed I cracked 6.5k heals on heroic Kael. But in every other encounter, healing seems to falls short.
I play a holy pally and while I love my class and can come off as top heals for many fights I still wouldnât say any is âthe bestâ right now.
Best? Hard to call without knowing the group comp and what content you are doing.
My favorites are Shaman (Straight forward) and Druid (Swiss Army Blade of Classes)
Which is true - thatâs why I prefaced the thread with it coming down to personal opinion. But I like hearing other peopleâs opinion on the state of healers.
I mean, yes and noâŚI beat out our guildâs resto shaman all the time in heroic, but Iâm also constantly begging for innervates and min maxing efficiency. If he really wanted to push he could blow me out of the water.
Strong single target healing is our niche. I crack 8k sustained and 20k burst on Sun King, and only on Sun King. Itâs not really a great niche to have, and one that I would love to see expanded upon or changed. But it does exist.
Holy paladin feels so strong right now. I predict weâll soon be hearing cries for a nerf.
I want to love mistweaver, but they feel so static and immobile during combat due to requiring so much channelling and casting. Holy paladin has no problems with movement or mana, which feels like it should be the other way around.
Actually, MWs are currently hard-casting their heals instead of pre-casting with Sothing Mist⌠which is a new concept to me this expack (didnât really play BfA so dunno what it was like then.)
I have only played MW up to 50 in pre-patch before the mana and hard casting did me in! I really feel like monks should be the mobile melee healer, but instead itâs the plate wearing shield-bearers.
This really depends on fight and talent selection. In dungeons you can end up locked in place for a bit if your group is taking heavy (usually avoidable) damage, but a lot of our heals are very mobile these days. With Rising Mist and Chi-Ji the idea is to build up blankets of renewing mists and rely on Chi-Ji to save a pull (he also gives a stacking cast time/cost reduction on enveloping mist, so bonus points for movement there). Essence font can be cast on the move, so the only thing you should be locked into hard casting is Vivify. Sadly we donât cast soothing much these days, with a few notable exceptions.
In addition, of course, thereâs the Ancient Teachings of the Monastery legendary, which is great for mana and great for mobility since itâs triggered by essence font and you donât even need to complete the full channel to get the effect. It does require dps, but all of our dps can be done on the move, so weâre able to weave in and out of melee pretty seamlessly, and have an easier ârecoveryâ button than holy pally with Revival being instant. For us it doesnât matter if the group is spread or where weâre standing in relation to them.
Raids are a little bit different, and again talent and fight dependent, but weâre still extremely mobile. I have no issues healing while dodging lasers on Artificer or running from the sword, and I donât need to rely on the portals to save me from being sucked in.
