Hello!
I am the raid leader for my guild. Last patch, i was a DPS and raid led on BM hunter. I chose BM specifically for the fact that it has low cognitive overhead, so it allowed me to focus primarily on calling mechanics, watching my raiders, and do all of the things a raid leader has to do while still performing well at my role. Thankfully, it worked really well.
However, after prog was over, i had an absolutely nightmare-ish time getting into mythic+ groups because of the healer and tank shortage, and there just being an overabundance of DPS. So, i started healing on Disc, and absolutely loved it. Healed for raids through the end of the patch, and healed in m+. M+ IO scores were great, and i had all purple and gold parses in raid.
Fast forward to this patch, tried doing our first night of prog and was healing, and i immediately noticed the struggle that came along with maining disc as a raid leader during prog healing. Trying to properly track my ramp and keep track of atonement while doing all of the other raid leader things was incredibly challenging for me. So, im really considering trying another healer.
im curious for those of you who raid lead/heal (or just heal in general), what would you consider to be the easiest healer for raid leading? From what im able to tell, i think it’d probably be holy priest or holy paladin, but im not sure if there’s another option im not considering, or if someone could help me move the needle one way or another in choosing priest/pally. Would really appreciate the feedback.
Thanks!
