For me, the only answer is BFA. The zones were unique and cool, the combat focus was good too–if only they built BFA now, without the focus on chores and borrowed power systems, I bet it would be loved.

Cataclysm. I’m a Cataclysm baby, it was my first expansion and it was the coolest thing in the world to watch the Cata cinematic, but people called me lame back in the day cause it wasn’t as cool as Wrath and that I was not a real WoW player because I didnt play the “best expansion ever”.

Shadowlands for me.
I just absolutely loved the zones! They were some of the best blizzard has ever done. All of them leaned into what they were going for and felt unique. Most zones in other expansions all feel the same. Also I loved the convenate abilities. The animations were cool. Hated they were tied to a certain convenate.
Bfa is a close second though.

Shadowlands. It was the beginning of the solo experience, and people who demand having group content freaked out with Covenants which were Garrisons done WAY better.

I agree that BFA was better than people gave it credit.
The zones were good. The patches were great. Raids were solid (bod generally thought of very highly)
The issue is the flashy poster systems sucked. Islands were an AP farm then nerfed into irrelevancy. War fronts were confused and under utilized. And Azerite was just a flop.

WoD and Shadowlands. I didn’t play BfA when it was current, but WoD was my first expansion in WoW so it may be nostalgia talking (I remember tidbits about the levelling experience and barely remember some of the dungeons) but I liked WoD. Even if I was bad at gold saving/collecting and never got a tier 3 garrison until well into Legion.
Shadowlands was the first xpac I had played when it was ‘current’ after Legion. While not a big fan of the linearity of the covenants/zones, the Threads of Fate made it much better, and I liked the covenants and aesthetics of each (even if I don’t like the Kyrian/Bastion from how bright they are)

WoD will be my favorite until they bring back sword and board DPS, and I don’t know what the take on TWW is, but Monk has been incredibly fun this entire expansion.

Honestly? MoP. People hated it when it came out and most of it was because of “LOL KUNG FU PANDA” memes. Then people hated it because of the gated dailies. Then people hated it because of the content droughts. Then people hated it because 5.4 lasted FOREVER. 14 months between the initial patch release and the release of WoD.
However, it was clearly judged unjustly. Pandaria is probably the most beautifully crafted continent in the game. The leveling experience was wonderful. The content was great. Class balance worked. And aside from the forced “GARROSH BAD” writing, the lore was good too.
Honestly, if you weren’t there at the time, it’s hard to understand how much hate MoP got back then.

I liked Cata, MoP, BfA, partially fond of WoD. TWW too.
The “ugly” expansions in terms of how they were received.
SL had some cool elements, but still I hate it lmao. Idk if that one can be redeemed in my eyes.

Mists, period habds down besr expansion. I just returned and am still running around panderia doig reps, farming moshugun, and going to start mt farm shortly.

For me it’d have to be BfA (once we got past the Azurite Armour thing) and WoD (really enjoyed the stories of Yrel’s rise and Maiev’s fall).

I genuinely liked WoD.
I know that, unfortunately, a lot of content was cut, but from what it had, I really enjoyed it.
I think it was the only expansion I played from start to finish, without skipping any patch at all.

Nice, you liked almost every expansion then on some level I’d guess? TWW is prob in my bottom 3, but it’s cool you mentioned it too b/c most didn’t. TWW as a concept is kind of cool, but the execution with the cast of supporting characters? Most unlikeable ever I think. Hopefully we get better npc’s in later packs, but the cast we’re working with right now just isn’t really my vibe.

Draenor for me. I still run low level alts through it. I get why there’s complaints but I don’t see why it deserves the hate.
