Who are the better archers as a whole lorewise? Kaldorei or Quel’dorei/Sin’dorei/Ren’dorei and why???
They all hover around the same level of skill. That weapon is a part of their very cultures and take pride in its mastery.
I would make the argument that Kaldorei take the edge on pure archery skills. The other elves were focused more on spellwork than archery. The Quel’dorei and Sin’dorei might take pride in its mastery, but the Kaldorei are the ones who use it day in and day out.
Maybe but the Quel / Sin’ dorei would also use it to that same level. After all they had to spend many centuries fighting the Trolls that kept attacking them.
I’d say they’re about the same in regards to pure physical prowess. The kaldorei may have a slight advantage there on average since they were immortal and their Thalassian cousins were not.
If I had to pick the stronger though? I think the Thalassian elves come out ahead there by a small margin, just by virtue of being familiar with the arcane. It’s a safe bet that the average Farstrider will be able to augment their shots with arcane magic. The kaldorei have the Elune priestesses, but the average kaldorei archer probably isn’t going to be magically augmenting their shots.
Breaking it down further–the ren’dorei are the strongest of the Thalassian, simply by virtue of being able to open void portals on a whim, among other things. Strong magic that’s hard to compete with in terms of power, but it does make them more volatile.
It’s hard to say.
On one hand, you have the whole Thalassian elven concept of the rangers who prided themselves on their prowess with a bow.
On the other hand, your Darnassian elves were more likely to become sentinels.
But the Thalassian cousins delved deeper into magic than the Darnassian elves.
But the Darnassian elves didn’t exactly stick to archery that much, but those that did, relied on pure physical strength.
I’d say as far as it matters, they were probably equal with each group having their own styles and preferences when it came to launching projectiles at their enemies. None could top the Dwarves and their rifles in terms of projectile speed, however. But that’s neither here nor there.
So then the answer is clearly Dwarf.
The all the elves ate near the same level but the edge to this would go to the Kaldorei. They’ve been alive longer than the other 2 races, and they’ve been fighters longer too. The arcane abilites of the Sindorei can give then a boost but I’m sure the Kaldorei use Elune’s blessings in their weapons and fighting.
At the moment… Sylvannas holds the top position.
below her, probably Nathanos Blightcaller and Shandris Feathermoon,
Tyrande was at least pretty competent with a bow, though that’s not her weapon of choice any more.
I don’t know if this is quantifiable…plus the question was about the races in general, lol, not specific lore characters. Also Nathanos isn’t an elf…not sure if you knew that since you included him in a question about elves.
If we’re talking who’s the best at pure archery and archery alone in terms of skill i’d say they’re more or less even.
Now, if we throw them on a deathmatch i’d give it to the nelf archer, as they are the most physically imposing- this is the group of people that tried to solo the legion, got called “perfect warriors” or something to that effect by GROMM HELLSCREAM and were able to take on the entire Horde despite being outnumbered 1v8. Make the battleground a forest at night and its an ez clap.
HOWEVER, if you allow all of them to use the powers they might have then it becomes more even and anything goes.
Really? I would have thought Alleria was better with the bow than Sylvannas.
Considering they’re both sisters from the same family and both held the title of Ranger General, I’d say whatever differences there are would be minimal. They would’ve been brought up in similar fashion and trained almost identically.
The reason that prompted this question is because I’ve been trying to farm Thori’dal and thought of Thas’dorah, and then began to wonder why I haven’t seen a legendary bow for the kaldorei that I am aware of.
The power of Druidism and the Priests of Elune has been the hallmarks of notable power with the Kal’dorei. It used to be magic but the were either exiled or became the Quel’dorei and their further iterations. Because of their avoidance to magic you don’t have a lot of magic weapons of power.
I felt it was appropriate because in order to become a Ranger, he had to out-elf the elves in all of the relevant skills, including archery.
And the lore simply isn’t overflowing with archers.
The closest you can get is the Ironfeather Bow as a quest reward from the Cataclysm quest that sends you back to the past. It uses the same model as Tyrande’s former bow. That was my transmog for a long time.
Rhok’delar is no longer available…but might be in Classic. It had the power to shapechange between bow and staff.
It couldn’t be that he was just Sylvanas’s boyfriend?
IIRC it’s Shandris but Tyrande and the Windrunner sisters are all very close. As a People, I’m leaning towards the Night Elves since they’ve got the most experience and are the most likely to put a bow to good use.
There’s a novel I believe that rebuts that response.
