If you’re not seriously pushing PvP then just play Unholy, Frost is better in PvP but sucks in PvE while Unholy is good in PvE and only average in PvP.

Frost doesn’t suck in PvE. It’s okay.

Frost is bottom of the battle in raids, down there with Havoc and Survival. Why would you gimp yourself when you could be playing top tier Unholy?

There are 7 specs below it. Unholy is 7 specs above it. 33rd percentile for frost and 66th for unholy. The latter is better obviously, but frost dk is still viable in pve, and great in pvp. It just depends on what the OP wants to focus on.

Just play ret Paladin

My point stands: Why would you play frost? And that’s just for raids, in M+ it scales from there.

Unless you’re pushing bleeding edge content, play what you want. Try them both, see what works best for you.

Survival is in the exact middle. Frost though is down there:

Look at normal 50%. That’s where most players actually are, despite how much forum ePeen they claim to have.

This week we are seeing more heroic parses - which is a new thing. But that is most likely an indicator of who uploads their parse. Most people are not hardcore enough to upload a parse.

(Can I get actual stats of how many people run a raid anywhere? Not just parse uploaders? I’m thinking there’s a site that pulls that data from the blizzard api somewhere.)

Ehh. It’s very mediocre and directly competes against arguably the best spec in the game at the moment.

Crazy how long people cling to their preconceived notions. Frost is fine in PvE now.

I love blood dks, but I hate tanking in SL. But yoinking healers in bgs is pretty fun, hell I even have an addon that plays scorpion’s “get over here” every time I use death grip. It always the little things that makes me enjoy this game.

So are arcane and frost mages it’s just matter of one spec being simply bettet

And Unholy is arguably the best spec in the game this tier, specifically for raiding.

The opportunity cost for playing Frost is not playing the best spec in the game. I’d hardly call that “fine.”

I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt that you’ve been in a coma for the past 10 weeks, but Unholy is now firmly middle of the pack and frost is only a few % behind it.

Numerically it isn’t the absolute best, but Unholy offers the best execute damage in the game, the second-best raid cooldown in the game, the means by which it can trivialize a metric ton of mechanics across several boss fights including the last boss himself, and the perpetually-amazing Death Grip that makes two bosses, including one of the harder ones, much easier.

It’s easily a contender for the best spec in the game, even if its damage isn’t as high across the board as Balance’s or Affliction’s.

You don’t just evaluate a spec based on how much damage it does unless it does that much.

Can Frost DKs not use death grip/abomb limb? And what “metric ton” of mechanics can Army “trivialize”? Frost also has AMZ. Honestly have no idea what you’re talking about, and I don’t think you do either.

Even Limit Max says frost is quite good in PVE. They just don’t use it currently because it doesn’t have a strong execute like unholy (soul reaper, which is amazingly strong in raids).

Prior to the execute phase frost is arguably better for a lot of things because unholy has a wind-up time for each new target with the wounds and is much more CD dependent whereas frost has great snap damage with lower cds.

Frost also has grip and AMZ, they’re standard DK abilities.

The execute comment is correct, soul reaper is very strong.

DKs also have a bres, and AMS makes them very survivable for certain mechanics compared to other classes.
