What do you think the best classes for Ashenvale PvP will be in Phase 1?
Based off of what?
That’s a very obtuse question
Im an obtuse person.
Some classes that seem (based on what we do know) to be strong and easy to level are Druids, Shaman, and Mage (as always). “Best” is a funny word, because - best for what? Tanking, who even knows how much of a difference some of the changes will make; Healing - again no clue; leveling - Hunters and warlocks are always a solid choice and none of the changes appear to have made them weaker. PvP? I have nowhere near enough knowledge to give an accurate guess.
Given that the first phase limits players to level 25 and the datamined mount is usable in Ashenvale only, classes that have their own movement ability (Druid/Shaman) seems to have some extra advantage. But one of the design philosophies of SoD seems to be propping up the “worst” classes so that it doesn’t matter or at least is less obvious which classes are clearly “the best”.
Which class looks like the most fun for you?
Alright , so best at what?
Pvp isn’t just one thing
Shadowmelded nelf hunters claiming the lives of clothies. With all that increased power and crit
Druid with infinite machine gun wrath and sunfire/moonfire rotting while running away in cat form.
Shamans with their new flame abilities that are probably gonna crit healbars in half if they get near you. (And that heal that builds up a gigantic flame shock of death.
Maybe rogues? I dunno
The ones you’re halfway competent on.
just level one of everything.
well going off what I’ve seen I would say warlock and hunter are looking pretty strong for pvp.
Being that I’ve never played anything else other than a mage (and a warrior briefly in Classic), it’s going to be a new experience for me either way. It’s going to be great. But yeah, I’ve never had any alts in Vanilla.
Any above average hunter is probably going to wreck every class at 25.
They have mobility, two slows, and if the runes are available they will completely obliterate others.
Edit: If they let someone break distance or get opened on it is diff, but in general seem to have a big advantage here.
Agreed, I used to play 29s back in the day a fair bit And hunters in that bracket absolutely dumpster on everyone.
I played hunter from vanilla classic to the end of tbc
And i will play hunter for SoD
The reckoning day has come
Marks hunter and Fire mage will be the only two ranged classes with more than 33 yard range, as everyone else can get AT MOST 1 point into their range increasing talent…Meanwhile the above two specs (marks and fire) will be blasting from 41 yards away free and clear. They’ll be strong because they can sit and literally pve people down from obscene ranges behind the main fight.
Beyond that, Rogues will be strong, because open world and stealth. I’d add that while their runes are all super boring, they are still decently powerful runes.
Next I’m going to say warlocks… Meta form grants instant searing pain, and a ton of armor, helping mitigate the lack of seduce, or any range talents. What they will have, is a nearly complete toolkit offensively… instant corruption, low cast time nukes (on both shadow and fire schools), a single target cc, 4 dots (immolate, corruption, agony, and drain life via glyph), void sacrifice shield, and an execute. Their ONLY real weaknesses will be defensive dispellers (shadowpriest), offensive dispellers (for the void sac shield), and the 2x 41 yard range classes.
4th I’d say Ret will probably be solid. They get their baseline kit early, and their glyphs are where their real power comes from with instant strikes… If they connect, they’ll delete people in mere globals.
I don’t see any shaman spec being good @ 25… Nor warriors. Arcane will be the weakest healer, Frost will have issues with only 30 yard range, ditto non meta form warlock. Druids are a bit of a wildcard, not really sure how to rate them.
The best class will be the class you enjoy playing the most.
PVP is situational. Play how you like and do your best to stay in situations that are favorable to you.
