Best classes combo for duo play till 60

Hello,

Probably a lot of people will be playing with their friend or spouse from the start, which classes are the best to level together? I am thinking one to be mage as my spouse is not really experienced player and mage seems like the best choice for that. I am thinking going rouge. What are you rolling for duo?

Honestly anything will work together.

I would recommend against Hunter, even tho they are strong levelers having to sort out pet management, pet happiness/loyalty, and ammo/quiver situation can be a little overwhelming to someone truly new to Wow. I would say something that has heals would be best as they are pretty forgiving.

Hmm I’m not sure maybe 2 classes that get mounts at 40 ie pally/warlock. Maybe something with a mage for the ports? That’s a tough question, I think theres so many combos and specs a lot of things would work well together

If you’re playing a Warrior?

Anyone, including another Warrior. Anything to curb corpse runs. You’ll obviously want someone that can keep you alive with heals, those are the best to have handy.

I always like to team up with healers. Any non healer can do more dps than the healer, and the healer can sustain the group for quite a while against non elites.

Healers teaming up with other healers are nearly invulnerable to normal mobs.

Mage/mage for aoe leveling is god tier but requires more skill.

Pally/lock is is super survivable, super efficient, lots of damage, both free mounts at 40. Tier 1 combo for sure.

Lock/balance druid is actually really strong for double dot specs.

Warrior/healer is always going to be very strong since the more enemies they take on the more rage they get the more damage they can do. Meanwhile the healer can keep the warrior up. A combo that when together is on an order magnitude many times more efficient than either class solo.

Warrior/Pally and Warrior/Shaman is very strong.

hehe did this on a Pserver, did everything together, was fun. and Aoe pulling 2 groups together to the middle made some huge aoe’s.

Anything will work. I wouldn’t worry about picking an easy class for an inexperienced player. Vanilla leveling is slow, and new abilities aren’t thrown at you that quickly. New players will have plenty of time to get used to their character.

I do think you would benefit from having one of you be a tank or healer though. Getting into dungeon groups will be much easier that way. That being said, since you mentioned rogue and mage… Mage/Shadow Priest are an amazing combo for pvp, and Druid/Rogue benefit from both being able to stealth

You totally made my day with that reply… The Vanilla joke of Hunters taming ferals and all…

That said, having either a healer or tank for one of a duo would help secure dungeon runs for both and make elite quests much more manageable. That said a duo in that situation is best to be proactive starting groups rather than finding, 2-3 of dps looking for a tank & healer tends to send an unpleasant message and take longer to procure. Why? If individuals are not forthcoming about healing or tanking it can be a road block to grouping, granted swapping who does what mid run is possible in a Vanilla/Classic situation by changing gear in most cases.

I am planning on running with a few friends so we will likely have a 5 person group going, but for two a Fury or Arms warrior and a Priest would be a beast combo. At least, it was when my friend and I did that back in Vanilla.

I’m probably going mage myself. Girl’s going hunter and being able to get food and water is a good way to not go broke.

Warrior + Any Healer
Mage + Any other Caster (water pls)
Hunter + Lock (all the pets, lol)
Druid(Feral) + Rogue (or dual stealth)
Shaman + Shaman (all the totems)
Paladin + Paladin (all the BubbleHearth)

Thanks all! Decided to go Shaman + (Rogue or Warrior). It will allow quick dungeon party gathering and not too many things to worry about(like pets etc.).

I have 3 favorite combos that i did in classic.

Warrior/paladin
Hunter/druid
Mage/priest

All of these work insanely well.

Something to look into for the rogue / warrior is proper use of specials with WF totem buff up. It is a big increase to dps and you will have to learn it for raids anyways.

As others have indicated, pretty much any two classes can find ways to compliment each other nicely, even two of the same class. Classic was always great about encouraging group play in pve. Mage is universally good for food, portals, and CC. Though some thoughts on perhaps best combos:

Warrior+Paladin. Warriors benefit from any party, Especially anything with heals, or a melee to benefit from battle shout. Probably ret Pally is best in this regard for contributing both. Plus warrior is just not good solo, but quite good in groups

Lock/hunter - or lock/lock, hunter/hunter. Overwhelm any scenario with a Zerg rush of pets. Having 4 bodies always makes everything so much easier

Druid+anything - druids just bring a lot to the table when it comes to pve. Heals, thorns, MotW, tanking. Great solo class too

Holy/disc priest+anything - for obvious reasons

Just don’t pick a rogue. They are definitely the most selfish class for partying. They contribute very little, aside from lockpicking and sapping

Go shaman warrior man… Windfury totem + sweeping strikes is BROKEN as hell
